I did an 8 mile run on December 8th and ever since my lower leg has been bothering me. Pain is in the shin and calf area and the pain only arises when I first stand up from inactivity (driving, sitting on couch, etc). After I start moving for a bit the pain stops.
I have not ran since the injury, but I have done some elliptical. Sound like a strain or could I be looking at a stress fracture?

Where exactly? Peroneal nerves?

Doubt this is a stress fracture. Suspect shin splints and peroneal tightness, but need to nail down area better.

Front lower shin, directly above the ankle. Pain radiates to the inside and outside.
As I said once I start walking the pain goes away. It only hurts once I get up from inactivity.

While you almost certainly have an issue in your anterior tib, I bet you have some ankle issues reflecting upstream. If you do ankle rotations before you stand up (having rested a while), how does it feel?
