Sup fellas? So I've got a new (used) piece of equipment for the home gym. It should arrive by Friday. However, I'd like to touch up the numbers on the weight stack which are obviously a bit used. Anybody have some thoughts on the easiest way to do this? A paint pen perhaps? I don't want to put stickers because it's cheap looking and they'd just peel over time.

I'll probably just take an exacto knife to the corner of the sticker that's peeling off.

Also, as far as taking care of the equipment ... i suppose just a few drips of 3 in 1 oil on the cables here and there? I'm lost when it comes to this stuff.

Thanks all!

Maybe a white paint pen and number stencil from hobby lobby. Depends on how consistent you want the numbers to look.

Don’t put oil on the cables. But on the bearings of the pulleys. You probably don’t need to do this very often if at all. Unless you notice them dragging.

If you want to really get down to it, take the bearings off and clean and then put 3 in 1 oil on it.

As Saint said, no oil on the cable.

If nothing else,, Wipe the cable and pulleys with a degreaser and then 3:1 oil on bearings of the pulleys.

For numbers, paint pen.

Bad arse piece btw.

Thanks for the info fellas. I appreciate it.

Not sure I’ll get the stencils, but I’ll definitely use a paint pen and just be careful.

Also, thanks to everyone for the advice on cleaning the cables/bearings.

777, any degreaser you recommend?

If you aren’t always ready to chop wood, then what are you doing with your life?

no particular degreaser.

I would just clean everything real good, prolly just use some dawn and some water with a rag. Wipe down and dry the cables, the guide rods and the pulleys.

Then use 100% silicon lubricant on the cables and the guide rods...superlube is usually recommended. You may need to polish the rods too if they are not perfect. then put 3:1 oil on the pulleys themselves(not wd40)

I redid a lat pulldown about a month ago. I used stickers on the weight stacks but they’re the heavy duty stickers made for gym equipment. I think I got them from full circle padding. I put the stickers on after I put the weights back on the machine so it was a little hard to get them straight.

Thanks! I didn’t do a whole lot on this piece. Mainly just repainted the weight stack, changed the roller pads and cleaned it really well. I didn’t pay attention to the frame color being almost the same color as the color I picked out for the weight stack until I put it back together. The roller pads I originally bought were too small so I bought some larger ones and had to cut them to size.

Before

This was one of the better looking weight plates. The rest were rusty and had paint flaking off.

I forgot to get an after pic with the new roller pads on.

no doubt. Post them pics up baby!!!

For the record, anyone needing replacement padding, the recommended full circle padding is the place to go.

We just moved about 6 months ago. I went from a 200 sq foot shed to a 750 sq ft garage so I’m trying not to fill it up lol. I need to get a couple more stall mats to space some of the equipment out. We just had company so I had to move some boxes that we haven’t unpacked yet in here. I just finished paint that weight tree so I haven’t put any plates on there yet. I had all of my strongman stuff outside at our old house so it’s nice being able to keep it indoors now.

looks great man. and yea strongman stuff takes up a lot of room and in and of itself just messy lol but so worth it.

Once you get it spaced out and setup how you want, it will be awesome having that much room.

I am losing space at my new build, losing about 100 sf, but i am gaining by it being a full dedicated space and not having to share as a garage.

how much did that cost you? Want to get something like that in the future. They are a bit pricey

$2900 after tax and delivery. It was a steal, for that model, at that price.

I’m about to get a glute ham and will end up getting the Rogue 50cal before the end of the year. I think that’ll wrap up 2021 purchases for me unless I get some competition bumpers. But I’m fine with just the steel plates at the moment. No rush on those.

Think I’m going to leverage my white one to get the grey one Coop has.
