Red Meat and Colorectal Cancer

So I know some of our resident vegans like to point to the china study as evidence that increased red meat consumption is associated with increased risk of colon cancer, so when I saw this newer study released I figured I would bring it here

***Full disclosure, some of the lead guys on this study have worked for beef funded projects on the last.

epidemiology studies are such crap and the china study may be the worst

I’m vegan but I tend to laugh at the China study. Just eat what you want and what works for your body. I’d rather eat a ton of sweet potatoes than a burger but we’ve all got our things.
I’m also not terribly strict. I had fish on vacation last week in Sarasota. I just won’t do beef or chicken due to factory farming.
I digress.

Majority of studies are bogus,so-called scientists will come up with whatever results the entity paying them wants.Remember the study LSU Pennington Center did on sugar, they determined that sugar had little to do with obesity,it was lack of exercise. The study was paid for by Coca-Cola.Academy of Nutrition controls education and licensing of dietitians, they receive significant funding from the food industry.
I personally find The China Study to be creditable,in large part because cardiologist my wife worked for was a disciple of Colin Campbell. This cardiologist himself had coronary artery disease and his father died in his 40’s from heart attack so he was highly motivated to learn all he could about heart attack prevention. He was only Dr. I ever knew that was interested in nutrition and prevention of illness. Most Drs.are only interested in treating illness, doing surgery, etc.A few Drs. told me nutritional education was a waste of time, people were going to eat what they want anyway, which is very true in my experience.

Yet this position has been proven correct over a dozen times since,. Seems those scientist might have been a little more ethical than you give them credit for.

Let's start with the fact that The China Study is a book, based on a study, The China Study itself isn't a study at all, hence why we capitalize Study.
Good gosh, just typing that was exhausting....the rest of the "evidence" is just trash science (some rat studies with horrible diets), mostly explained why in the OP, so I really don't want to dive into this again...cutting into bourbon time.

You’ll never be that bad.
I do see points in part of the China Study but dude leaves a ton out. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with fresh, organic meat. Eat that, good veggies and fruits, keep moving, and stay away from refined carbs. It’s easy.
I could be the only vegan ever saying organic meat is okay.

Nah, its me being a dick. I've been round and round on reddit on the epidemiological study nonsense that was mentioned in the OP. These types of studies have a purpose in science, it is a good/cheap way to answer important questions to further move to better quality studies. Though, for some reason, only in the world of nutrition are epidemiological studies the end-all-be-all.

Forgot to accuse me of being rascist,Ol’ Mingo either has anger issues or he’s die- hard Democrat.Anyone that disagrees with them is an unwashed, degenerate retard POS and a rascist to boot. There’s no room for discussion, their way is the only way.
Reminds me of my father-in- law.He was huge beef eater,I would try to talk to him about healthy eating and he would get severely pissed. Then in period of few years he had rescue angioplasty,by-pass surgery and then died of colon cancer with metastasis to his liver.None of which was a pleasant experience for him or the family.
On the Internet one can find advocates for any type of diet you can imagine, keto, paleo, vegetarian, vegan and followers of them believe it passionately.
I personally eat primarily vegetables and fruit, nuts, eggs that I raise and deer, wild pigs I shoot. No factory beef or chickens except for rotisserie chicken couple time a year because they are so good.
I get my dietary information from Drs.and scientists with verifiable credentials and no connection to industry such as :Colin Campbell,Dr.Dean Ornish,Dr.Roy Swank ,Dr.Caldwell Esselstyn-his diet is brutal, but he has documented proof it works.
I have no faith in any scientists or organizations that receive funding from industry including American Heart Association,American Cancer Society,Academy of Nutrition.,or Pennington Center. It’s no accident that the obesity epidemic that started in the 80’s followed the unleashing of high fructose corn syrup on our country in the late 70’s.Read how that crap is metabolized,to deny it is a factor is ludicrous.Of course, lack of exercise is a huge factor.
Also interesting is to read dietary habits of Drew Brees and Tom Brady.I don’t believe all the stuff Brady does about alkaline foods but it seems to be working for him.
Mingo is going to have friggin meltdown, hope somebody hides his guns.

Dude there are dozens of studies showing you are full of shite on hcfs atleast when it comes to obesity. Same thing with sugar. Atleast when calories and protein are equated.
There are plenty of advantages to low carb, but you don't lose bodyfat any faster and that is the biggest driver of health.
The way you eat is a great way. Adding in free range chicken and grass fed beef from a local farm and you have the formation of a great diet. But don't claim to be a science guy then ignore the studies that doesnt agree with your world view.
I had to change on low carb and intermittent fasting. I thought keto was the Golden rule in fat loss and IF would slow your metabolism, I was wrong. I evolved as the science evolved.
As far as the alkaline diet goes, proven in multiple studies to be bullshite. For being a science guy you seem to not be able to go through studies and rifle through the bullshite.
