Steps have been good all week, getting in on average 7k a day. Didn't have a great day eating yesterday after going out to eat with friends after church. But that was my only real meal for the day which helped a bit, time to get back on track today. One day doesn't mean failure. In the past I would have used that one day as an excuse to go on a binge and likely not weighed in for 2 weeks and put on even more weight. Checking in here and being honest with myself tends to help keep things in check as well.

Walking is incredibly underrated for weight loss provided you keep a decent speed

Back into the gym today (first day of Pool Season, kicked my arse) after giving my shoulder a rest after some pretty sharp pain. I have been walking the meantime for weight loss and I am 16 lbs away from goal weight which is doable with about 50 days left.

Especially for heavier folks. Takes more effort for them to maintain 3-4 mph than some lightweight person.

I try to get a few miles in every day before the heat and humidity get too much.

Weight crept back up even though I am still in ketosis but I am attributing it to water retention with the new workout program. Just need to keep plugging away

190 / ? / 150

Haven’t checked in in a while. Hit my mini goal of 165 before Easter but haven’t done great since then. I’m up a couple pounds since then. New goal of 155 for beach trip July 1.

Let’s get it folks, no excuses!

I was in the first thread. Work from home ruined me. I am extremely inactive since last summer. I responded well to keto back in 2018 and Im back on it. Im down 12 lbs since April 1st doing keto and counting calories. I will probably plateau pretty soon and will pick back up cycling.

Any suggestions for keto dry mouth? It literally wakes me up at night. I had "keto flu" back in 2018, but never this bad of dry mouth.

Where do I obtain one of these scans? I’m in Houston.

Is Inbody any different?

Keep pushing folks.

Also being more diligent about logging my food.
started back on this. It is the only thing that keeps me accountable I have learned. Otherwise I make bad choices. But I refuse to not log what I actually eat and hate logging bad choices. I am glad y'all have kept this thread alive.

We are in a rental in a new location and working on making the move permanent. Way more exercise options up here so I am going to incorporate more walking/riding/swimming as well.

Glad I found this thread. Need some additional motivation. Happy with my progress. Down 22 lbs in about 2.5 months with nothing but more walking and a better diet.

Gotta be honest though, I’d kill a hobo for a plate of nachos right now.

Been plateauing a bit lately. But steady progress. Planning to add a little weight lifting and hopefully kick up my base metabolic rate a bit.

Great progress! Have you thought about adding some lifting to help reduce muscle loss?

Yeah I’m definitely thinking that’s my next step. Legs are feeling stronger with all the walking but upper body does feel weaker

Weigh in Tues: 236.4
7 day step avg: 8,298

Best week in a month though I did feel a bit dehydrated so maybe more like a 2 lb than 3 lb week. But I’m happy.

Diet was very good. Kept the meats a little leaner though my weekly cheat meal (sat night) did include a White Russian for dessert. I can resist cake and pie. Dessert drinks are tougher…

In fact throughout these 3 months alcohol has been by far my biggest cheat.

Had 2 Korean spiced chicken thighs and a salad for lunch. Lightly dressed with a cilantro lime vinaigrette. Needed a break from cauliflower and garlic green beans, which have been a staple the last 2 weeks as I needed a salad break.

Dinner is going to be pulled pork, a little coleslaw and some pickles. Last night was a shrimp salad.

I continue to not eat breakfast though honestly that’s been easy as I’m only occasionally hungry before 11 am. If I do get really hungry I’ll have some fruit.

Thanks! I’m starting to research gyms. In the meantime I started doing a couple sets of push ups and plank up and downs after my walks.

10 push-ups was embarrassingly difficult. Lol.

Just found this thread, got plenty reading to catch up.

Fitness and health have slid into my main focus. I can’t stop consuming YouTube videos of dieting, lifting, nutrients…etc. I’ve had moments in my 20s and teens where I was pretty fit. However, over the last few years I’ve gained weight without being active. I got soft. In my 20s I’ve been as heavy as 205 while being fit and 180 when leaned up and active. I trended into the 195-200 range this last thanksgiving without exercising. I was getting thick. Over the last few months I cut down into the low 180s using some IF and body weight exercises. I strayed away from the gym and weights, mostly out of social fear. I’m no where near as strong as I used to be and that’s tough. I’ve been very self conscious of the weights I’m pushing around.

Anyways. A lot of YouTube videos from some damn good creators got me back into it. I’ve found a program I truly like and the body transformation has been noticed by all close to me.

3x a week
Squat
Deadlift (hex bar)
Bench
Shoulder Press
Seated cable row
Curls - variation.

My reps and loading has varied, but I’ve mostly been shooting for around 5-7 reps. Steadily increasing the weight. Deadlift has come back the fastest. Started just trying to pull 225 a couple times and now a month later I’m at 365 x 4.

My weight is now hanging around 190 lbs and I don’t care which way it really goes. I want to look good and be fit. I’m 31, 5’11 for reference.

I think I’ve set in motion a life of being fit and healthy. Next big step for me is to be more aware of total calorie intake. However, I’ve kinda skipped this and just tried to be smarter. Not drinking my calories (except milk and protein shakes). I drink 2 protein shakes a day, drink plenty water, and eat some hole food meals. Also started taking vitamins and creatine. I’ve got more confidence than I’ve had in a long time.
