Having trouble with arches after runs. Over the years have had trouble with hamstrings, glutes, and lower back at various times. What are your trouble areas or am I just breaking down? Mid 40's, 5 miles 4-5 times per week, 40+ weeks per year. Easy jog ~10-12 minute miles.

What kind of surface are you running on? Could be doing more damage to sensitive/injury prone areas when you run on pavement. Joe Rogan talks about his recent enthusiasm for running hills outside of LA in those vibrum (sp?) shoes and how doing so has strengthened his feet tremendously. Personally, I don't like running in general because it's boring, and would rather get my cardio in playing pick up basketball. However, if I do run it's usually on a court with more absorption in the floor, or barefoot in some soft dirt/grassy area, as opposed to on pavement or treadmills.

Pavement. Good point. Will try artificial surface or grass for a few weeks

I’ll bet you’ve got anterior pelvic tilt and are overextended. Are you a heel-striker as well?

There’s almost certainly a technique issue here.

For your arches, get a kids super bouncy ball and roll them out a few times a day, also get some calf smashing in.

Vibram fivefingers, or running barefoot, solves almost all running problems. Running barefoot also helps the ankles noticeably in addition to helping the feet imo.

Everything gets sore but the only thing that gives me trouble is my left knee. I think I may have a meniscus problem. We will see how it goes this winter but my running days may be o er.. This has been a constant problem for 5 or 6 years even with long stretches with no running.

left ankle is always sore after sitting down for a while, but once I start moving it's good to go. Think it's just arthritis from lots of trail runs and twisted ankles.

The only other issue i have is tightness and pain (not cramps) in my calfs during long runs....I think it's either a nutrition issue (if I take salt tabs every hour I'm I usually good) or it's lactic acid build up.

Is the diet good? A poor diet can lead to inflammation and arthritis.
