Ordering contacts(eye) online domestically or abroad.

I usually get contacts once a year and forgot to reorder before my year(FDA requirement) expired.
I personally dont want or need an annual but usually get a semi annual checkup and since I had one last year I’m not interested in another $150 eye appt.
Wondering if anyone here has ordered online without a current script and just what they need?

I order from contactlensking.com regularly without a script; you have to enter an optometrist and the law requires them to give the doc 24 hours to respond.. my old one never responds; he’s told me as much and then the vendor is legally allowed to fulfill the order.. let me know if you need his name.

Yeah, I'm kinda confused how that works to be honest. I mean I for years have just gone up to Walmart Vison center and always have had good experience.
Why would an ophthalmologist who i have never seen before sign for me?
I'm pretty certain the walmart doc wont in this case.
*I guess what I'm saying is should I use your guy, knowing he wont respond or try to use my Walmart Doc who I saw last year(over 12 months ago)?

They’re not signing anything; they’re basically just verifying that you have a current script… my old doc just ignores the requests which allows the vendors to legally send you the contacts… annual vision screening requirements are a scam and not found in other countries.

Contact Lens King is way cheaper than 1-800-Contacts

1-800 contacts does a screening for like $10 on your phone.
I typically just go that route when I order contacts every other year.

I don't know how old you are, but be aware that as we age, your Rx can fluctuate. I was at a -1 for decades, went to a -1.5, and two years later was buying readers because I couldn't see anything close up in low light. Back down to a -1.25 and it's much better close up. One advantage is that the local opto let me exchange unopened boxes for the changed scrip.
If you are planning on spending time in the EU (or France/Poland, at least, nobody gives 2 shits about an Rx.) I've had it happen twice where I ran out of contacts or left them in my hotel "storage" bag in the wrong country, when I needed to spend a week elsewhere.
I don't think an annual paid cash should be $150. One of the problems is that a lot of the workers at the front that check you out may not know that there may be a different price for people paying cash vs. insurance. There's a lot of turnover, and they may just not know the right code to apply. Same with most dentists. Find a Vietnamese provider. I've been with the same dude for 15 years, and they hand me a transferrable prescription without being asked. I'm used to dealing with vets, etc., that are desperate to have you buy through them, but my guy no care.
