I did not race my turkey trot this year, ran it with my wife and 6 year old with the 2 year old in a stroller. Was a lot of fun, but deep down I kinda wish I had been up to race it, a sub-20 would have given me 1st in my age group and I feel like on a good day I could pull off a sub-20 now

Yeah I'm not showing up to the New Orleans race to get waxed by a bunch of HS and college kids hot off their XC season. Yesterday was my rest day; I'll hit 40 miles total this week. Unless I'm misremembering, will be my highest peak since high school cross

The guy that finished two spots ahead of me was fricking 71. 71…….
Talk about a life goal. Running sub-8min miles at over 70. Damn.

Averaged a 6:34 pace for 6 miles, off a 56 mile bike ride in which i set a new average power record for 2 hours, for my IM Florida 70.3 race sim this morning
If I can hold a 6:34 for all 13.1 miles in 2 weeks I will be satisfied. That would put me around a 1:26 half. All depends on the Orlando weather that day.

LOL I heard them announce it at the start but wasn’t sure who it was til I saw the results. Overall winner was another Slidell native and UNO XC team member.
It’s so funny, I guess LRC has a connection with UNO XC, so a lot of those guys represent LRC at local races and always beat out the top Power Milers (usually the same 3 guys). Must drive them nuts.

Are you doing the Railway Half or a beach one?

Auburn one. Couldn’t make myself do the railroad one. Nice track for a training run, but not a race.

Auburn one is hilly from what I've heard and I agree with you about the Railway, it's terrible for racing.
I have 10 friends going to Big Beach and they want me to go, already have a house to stay at but I don't think I'm going to pull the trigger because I'm doing a family vacation the week before. Would be fun though

Already got hotel rooms at the Collegiate. Wife just got us tickets for the Auburn vs Georgia game on Friday night. It'd be hard for Auburn to be hilly......

859ft of Elevation gain for a Half would be considered pretty hilly. I've heard great things about the race, but I'm not going to a Half Marathon with 800+ ft of elevation gain for a PR.

Niiice - last time I went to Auburn they paid for a room for me at "The Hotel at Auburn" - I'm jealous, the Collegiate looks amazing.

I did the 5k in Auburn and there was one hill about a quarter mile long right past the mile mark. Other than that it was pretty flat. Not sure the 1/2 route but yeah it's hard to imagine there being a route in Auburn that could be that hilly.
That's my target race to go sub 20 this year. Ran 20:42 there last year which was kind of what got me thinking I still could possibly do it. Going for broke this time. Maybe I'll see you out there.

For you ultra folks, Chip Autin just set the FKT for the entirety of LA 1. 7 days from TexArkAna to Grand Isle - bonkers.
