Wanted to change it up, so did something today I haven’t done in my last 3 months of training, some speed work (it felt awful )

4 x 1 mile with about .2 mile walk between

Mile 1 - 6:13
Mile 2 - 6:21
Mile 3 - 6:18
Mile 4 - 6:35

I would need two wheel barrels if I ran those times. One to carry my lifeless body. They other to carry my giant balls. Way to go hog.

nice work my man.

i did 4 at lunch and kept it at about a 7:20 pace. it had got really humid and i walked waaaayyy too much.

i will say this, it is really hard to slow down in a racing flat. i know that sounds stupid, but i'm trying to break in these new ones and they really make me keep my tempo higher than desired.

While y’all are out hitting those 6 minute numbers, I grabbed a trio of 10 minute miles this morning. Short pace run today and a 12 miler tomorrow.

They say lose 10 gain 1 min on a 5k but yeah if I hadn’t been so hard on my body for the last decade or so, I’d be real quick.

ETA saw your workout, great job!

Without trying to sound too weird, this makes me curious..

How big are some of y’all? I always feel like I’m a bit bigger for a “runner”. I’m currently 5’11” and about 173-175, which is the smallest I’ve been since probably like 10th grade (like 14 years)

I’m 5” 11 and 49 years old. Just after my recent 155 miler, I dropped down to 189. Before I started doing these races I was always about 215. Even with heavy training pre race, I hover around 195.

I’m significantly larger/ heavier than most of the other runners in these races.

5’7 165. I really need to cut down to 150 if I want to hit my speed goals in the future. Maybe even lighter.

I might be less than 165 at this point actually. My pants have gotten pretty loose but I never weigh myself. Still though, I cheat way too often during the week and if my Garmin is accurate, I haven’t been burning nearly as many calories as I thought.

In other news, 13.1 miles this morning. 2:16:14. A little fast for a long run for me but I was enjoying my new watch too much.

18.75 miles at 9:15 this morning. Really struggled with the last few miles... started walking some of hills after the 15 mile mark.

Hit 30 miles on the spin bike this am (yuck), with some resistance adjustments throughout. Really hate riding a stationary bike and have no idea how to position myself on it honestly. My crotch was actually numb after.

I can see myself springing for a lower tier road bike maybe early next year; going get fitted for one, etc.

There are saddles with cut outs. Regular saddles put pressure on your taint and pinch a nerve. Stationary bikes or trainers make it worse as you rarely ever relieve the pressure. These cut out saddles remove the pressure where the nerve is.

Rain all weekend. Hope I can get my long run in tomorrow. Dont want to do this on the treadmill.
