I agree on short sleeves, uncomfortable for me while running.

ks - did you move to Philly? I see quite a few runs up there lately...

Yep no more NOLA. Been up here for 3 weeks now. Lots of places to run with varying terrain to change it up right out our door or within short drive. But its been rather cold a few of the days and I'm not a big fan. Today with wind chill its low 20's. hopefully tomorrow wind dies off because planning for long run.

Apparently there are several popular races in the general area but haven't spent time to fully investigate. I think we are going to run Dirty German on May 8th.

Ran my 15K today and was very happy with my time. 8:16/mile with my best splits coming on the last four miles. My goal has been to get to sub 8 min in my 5/10/15K. If I start a little better, I get that easily today. Some lady won it. She had a 5:30ish pace. She passed me on the out and back course at mile 4 I think.

Course was hilly. It was cold. No wind.

The Beasts from the East showed up Saturday at Lincoln Parish Park and waxed my arse. I ran the 20 mile in 3:52:XX which isnt blazing by any means, but definitely not a crawl.

I got 11th, 9 of those ahead of me were out of towners from West Monroe and surrounding areas. Congrats if any of you are on TD, there were some stupid fast times put down.

Heads up if you’re running New York. They’re taking preference ranking on deferrals tomorrow. So if you want to get a room at a reasonable price, you’d want to book now or sooner.

I went ahead and booked mine. If they don’t take me this year, NYRR can suck on my arse and I’ll just get a refund when they pull the preference shite again next year unless my top two can be run or refund. I’m tired of this race blocking my fall racing schedule.

I saw that e-mail today as well. I was going to request 2022 and 2023 as my top 2. F trying to get in this year with it being the 50th running and the unknown of Covid.

I’m off the roads until covid is over. Too many races being cancelled. 2021 is all trails for me.

Anyone have any tips for running a half marathon in what should be pretty heavy rain?

Wear your lightest and least absorbent shoes. A light running cap and glasses (hell, maybe even some comfortable goggles) would be a good idea. It might also be a good idea to put some Vaseline or similar in areas where you have chaffed in the past.

if it's warm enough, I wouldn't bother with a shirt. Don't take your phone or headphones, only watch if you normally use it.

And enjoy

I only have one pair of running shoes. I’m gonna look like a dweeb but I’m going to keep my shoes covered by Wal-mart bags until it’s time to run.

I’ve never really chaffed anywhere but muh nips. They will be slathered in Vaseline. Sorry for the visual. I may put some Vaseline on my groin area just in case.

Thoughts about a dry-wick shirt under a poncho? Will that result in me being steamed for 2 hours?

I get blisters on two areas of my feet though, but they aren’t painful. They’re just ugly. .

Hat, sunglasses, no shirt, and bags around shoes until race start. If you insist on a shirt, a light water repellant jacket over the lightest shirt I could find would be my choice.

Man the heat and humidity suck. I’m back at it after a 3 week break and my supposed to be easy runs have turned into threshold runs

Fartlek for today. I slept in so I get to do it at lunch time. Looks to be a nice 82F with 80% humidity. Yay!
