Anyone else do Zydeco Half or full today? Was pretty hot & humid so didn’t hit my original time goal, but I finished 2nd in my age group, so I’m pleased with that.

Very nice. Weekend was muggy for sure. Was it windy on the course? Was at my crib

A little bit, but fortunately not enough to further hinder my pace

First live race in over a year Sunday. Looking at the weather, it shows an overnight low of 50 warming to the low 60's. Looking forward to racing again.

Good luck to you.

I have 2 races over the next few weeks. Then I have nothing for about a month. I'll probably use that month to get my vaccine. Then, I have an active summer ahead.

Just popped in to say F U to all those sub 23 min 5K times.

Put in my brew cruise 6 miles tonight. 500ft of elevation and a 9:00 min/mile pace. Average HR was 156. Easy miles.

No, trying to decide between my RC Elite and Next%. My goal is 1:35 and I just don't feel as comfortable in my Speeds at that pace for that long.

I've tested all of my shoes at that pace and the Next% and RC Elite feel the best. My Speeds are good up to about 10K distance and my legs start to feel it. I think I've just been spoiled by the higher stack height and plate of those two. Even my Endorphine Pro's can't compete with those two.

On my race sim a couple weeks ago, I used my RC Elite and clocked a 1:39 with a 8:30 first mile and consistent 7:30 paces. I'm confident on race day I can best that with my Next%.

Good luck dude. It was glorious racing at La a couple weeks ago. I’ve had 3 races this year and feel lucky to have gotten those 3 in. Tested positive for COVID 3 days after La and haven’t been able to run since!

That's my biggest fear right now. Have to wear a mask in corrals and after finish. Corrals will be started in phases and I'm in the first wave so hoping to get out away from people quick.

Yeah I’m fairly certain I caught it at work the Friday before. I had no symptoms until Wednesday, but I’m positive I ran the race with it in my body with the way I felt after the race. I was masked up at start/finish of race and wasn’t in too close of contact so not too concerned that I gave it to anyone.

It has completely floored me though, so do your best to prevent it for sure.

I wouldn’t worry. I ran La and it was VERY spaced out. The zydeco was essentially normal with basically jacked up shotgun start

Good to know. They are taking good precautions and the race is limited in capacity, but still has me nervous. Some people in Texas have no concern of others and will run next to you and refuse to give space when just running around town.

Like I said, I'm in the first corral so I plan to be one of the first ones at the start line to get in and get spaced out.

It’s truly amazing the difference between a slight incline and a flat track. Put in 12 today with the run group. Recovery miles today. Paced at 10:30 and had an average HR of 145. I did the last mile at an 8 min pace to wrap it up. Felt great.

Big race is April 3rd. fricking Mountain Brook has forced them to move it. Another year of wasted training. Trying to decide if I run the replacement race at Oak Mnt or just run the regular course as best I can. Kinda pissed off.

Happy with my finish. Pacing was still a little inconsistent. Freaking overpass that we had to traverse 4 times sucked. Found a guy planning a similar pace and stuck with him the whole way.

COVID precautions were meh. People not wearing masks before or after race. Half course overlapped the 10K so we ran into a lot of traffic on the second loop.

I think sub 1:30 is doable with better pacing. Planning ahead I’m looking for a half in the fall to meet that and then target a 3:30-3:45 full in January.
