Got some strength training circuits in this afternoon.

-Flat BB Bench/Box Jumps/Stability Ball crunches
-Romanian BB DL’s/Hamstring Curls/BB Biceps Curls
-DB Arnold Press/BB Squat/Hanging Knee Raises
-DB Tricep O/H Extensions/Hack Squat Calf Raises/Supermans

All lighter weight, higher reps. About 75% of what I’d typically do when trying to build muscle/bulk up. HR was around 120 avg. Tried to stay moving.

Planned rest day tomorrow.

I would but the GPS in my phone is messed up. Can’t use any map apps accurately.

Well....

Go to MapMyRuns website, map your runs, buy a $20 Timex Ironman, and calculate your pace at the end.

4 Miles at 8:50/mi this morning. I'm having to wake up and run an hour earlier now that school is in. Going to take some getting used to for sure.

I used to always rest the day before my long runs. However, only over the past couple of months have I began to get in these 4-5 miles easy runs the day before as a primer. I feel like it's paid off greatly. Helps take away the sting of those first handful of miles the following day. I would love to hear how you guys approach your long runs.

How do y'all cool down after a hot run? I just finished a run outside and immediatly jumped in the shower.
Do y'all

A. Cool off naturally, walk off in the shade, around the house

B. Put ice, cool towels, etc on yourself

C. Jump in the swimming pool, lake

D. Jump in the shower

I normally just do A, but did D this morning.

Depends on the amount of time I have. This morning, I walked for about 5 minutes, then sat for 15 minutes or so until I stopped sweating, then stretched for a few minutes... then finally to the shower. Sometimes it's straight to the shower and then stretch after.

Same. My "day before" runs are usually 3-4 miles with an easy to moderate pace. Feels like it helps me not take 2 miles to get warmed up on a long run.

Depends on time but I’ll usually at least stop dripping sweat outside (under patio/fans), then move inside for some stretching/Yoga. Followed by cold shower.

Any recommendations on shoes for track/speed work? I will post on the running shoe thread also. Looking online is a bit overwhelming. I’d like to at least get a handful of recs and then attempt to find them around town to try on. Currently using Ghost 11’s for pavement pounding.

Any of you trail guys or marathoners run with a belt? I was looking for something that I could use on short hikes and long runs. Mostly to store a key, phone, and a couple gel packs and/or nuts.

I actually get in a cold shower with my running clothes still on to rinse out the sweat. If it sits in the laundry, the stink stays in the clothes even after washing.

5 miles @ 7 Min pace yesterday morning. (Forgot to post). After work hit arms/low bar back squats. Squatting after a longer run was rough.. 315 felt heavy AF

Won’t have time to run today but have a long run scheduled tomorrow for 6 miles

Got in a slow 3 miles today. Usually feel a bit sluggish on days where I quit eating by 4 pm the day before.

Saturday’s are my favorite, it’s my off day and I get a big meal in late Saturday night before my long run on Sunday.

For cool down, I usually just stop my route about 1/4 mile from home then walk the rest of the way, cold shower when I get back.
