Wish I could have been there 3NO...I've been quiet, life got in the way of everything but the daily morning run. How was the course?

It was fun. Not too many switch backs and a bit of climbs. Really rocky.

My kinda trail to be honest. I enjoy rocky desert running more than others in the southeast.

Wish my legs had been in better shape to take advantage of it.

They’re honestly hurting more than any other race I’ve ever done. Tomorrow morning is going to hurt when I get out of the car. I don’t do excuses but I think my week of travel really effed me over. Gonna have to come back next year and do better.

How about that wind this morning folks?! That’s right, for the first time since November 30, 2018, it wasn’t a factor. I might get 4 or 5 runs in today just to take advantage of the no wind.

Didn’t really feel like coming in here and bitching, but you twisted my arm by mentioning wind. I had one if the worst runs that I can remember yesterday due to the sustained winds. Not sure if it was strictly the wind (20+ mph sustained), warm(er) temps (80 feels like) or what but it sucked badly. HR was through the roof early.

I feel ya. That's what it's been here for 4 months straight. It's bitch worthy. Might as well just get the rest of the months miles in today.

I had 20 mph yesterday and it’s about 30+ here in West Texas this morning.

I went to take a poop for the first time since the race this morning and realized that I busted my arse harder than I thought yesterday. I have a baseball sized bruise and scraping on my right asscheek from yesterday. I think adrenaline kept the pain away for a bit but it’s fresh and tender this morning.

I'm beginning to think you run to sustain your shitting in the woods hobby. Just saying.

It’s like my HR shoots up because I’m pissed off at the wind, not necessarily the extra effort required. Haha

This was a good old fashioned poop. Man I was so worried about needing a poop midrace yesterday. About 30 minutes before the start I felt the urge and I was never more happy to use a portapotty in my life.

My problem is that I eat pretty clean all week except Friday night. usually eat pizza, Mexican or Indian. Most of my runs are Saturday morning so the timing is just right for shitting in the woods.

Good afternoon everyone, my name is mcvick and it's been over a month since my last race. Today I ran a local 5k with the goal of a soft goal of sub-24 minutes and a hard goal of sub-25 minutes. I ran hard through 50 degree air temp and light wind without trying to let up.

I finished with a time of 22:24. Let's goooooo!

I experienced the same in my 10 K yesterday. According to my watch average HR was 190 and was over 200 for a decent amount of time. I’m not how accurate the HR monitor is on my Apple Watch because I find it hard to believe it could get that high.

Wrist based can be very off, especially if it's cool outside. Chest strap is really the way for accurate HR.

On my hardest interval efforts I'll get to ~177 with strap but a normal everyday run with wrist HR will shoot up to 195...gone figure

I don’t trust wrist based. Just too all over the place.

Apparently Polar is known to be pretty accurate, but I’m too much of a Garmin homer and Polar’s watches aren’t really wearable for everyday wear.

I use the RB Digital app which connects through my library, it allows me to download audiobooks, e-books, and digital magazines for free.

Runner's World is one of the magazines you have access to. It isn't their online digital content, but it is a free way to keep up with their print magazines.

I got tired of predicting the accuracy of the HR monitor on my watch and switched to the chest strap monitor a couple months back. My readings have been far more consistent across runs. The coupe of times I couldn't locate my chest monitor in time for a run, I've turned off the HR feature on my watch entirely.

I noticed that Science In Sport (SIS) is running a promotion challenge for Strava users. For those of you who have trouble putting down a GU or Cliff gel, you should look into these. All of the ones I have tried have more of a milkshake consistency. Taste good and goes down easy without any water. My only knock is how large the packets hard. Difficult to squeeze in the smaller pockets of many running shorts.
