Thanks. Do TRT clinics prescribe shots, or would I still need a urologist (or other MD)?
I’ve seen Maximus Tribe mentioned on here. Is that a clinic, or are local options preferable?

Yes. A clinic will get you everything you need.
Posted on 1/8/25 at 7:07 am to meeple
yea you can do an online clinic and they will take care of everything
literally what your doctor prescribed is exactly what uncle jack said...chemical castration. will have your levels lower than most 85 year old men
frick that!!!
you can talk to your doctor...tell him you want to start 100mg a week split into 2 shots per week. tell him you want baseline bloodwork now and again after 3 months.
If he refuses tell him, thanks but no thanks and that he should brush up on this before just prescribing things.
as far as cost...usually places will honor the goodrx code.

Thanks. Just had bloodwork 3 weeks ago. Is that sufficient to be considered baseline?

Have an appointment scheduled for tomorrow to hopefully establish a plan. I already have a 1 ml 200 vial in hand so at least I can get started depending on how that goes.
The vial says for intramuscular injection only. Is that typical and people just inject subcutaneously anyway, or is there a specific type of TC that’s needed for subcutaneous injections?

typical, can be used either way.

Yea my vial says IM only but my doctor said to do SubQ

I'm feeling a little better about this. Went to see the doc today and he said the pharm didn't script it right. Instead of it being 0.5 ml (100mg) every 3 wks, it should have been 1.0 ml (200 mg) every 3 wks. If I'm mathing it out right, that's ~100 mg every 10 days. This is a starting dose to get a baseline, and to ck back in a month to 6 wks. Not dreadfully low as initially thought, not as high as being suggested here (100 mg/wk). He prescribed me 10.0 ml so I guess I could just bump it up myself if I wanted to?
He suggested doing a single 1.0 ml 200 mg dose every 3 wks. I think I'm going to just split it up and do 0.5 ml 100 mg every 10 days. Also asked about subQ and he advised IM due to better absorption. From what I'm seeing, I've read up and may go SubQ anyway just to see how my body handles getting into my system at these levels.
I'll go back in a month or 6 wks after the 3rd/4th injection to check levels.
I checked GoodRX, and a 10.0 ml (200 mg) vial can be had for $21 at Walgreens, $50 at Walmart, and $105 at CVS. Am I reading this correctly? Two of those see way cheap for 10.0 ml. I just paid face value for 1 ml at a local pharmacy (not listed on GoodRX) for $28 yesterday.
What needle sizes should I use for subQ? Where do all get yours from?
I appreciate the help from the different posters in here. I've learned more about this than I would have ever thought in the last few days

quote:The total number of mg over the given period is all that should be kept constant. I would personally break that 1.0ML over 20 days into 5 injections of 0.2ML over the 20 days. It will keep you at a much more level balance rather than a roller coaster of hormone. I'm just getting into this as well but I did do a metric frickload of reading up on best practices and more injections of lower quantity is much preferred for a more level baseline.

quote:I'm using 30g 5/16" right now because that is what was sent. The needle is tiny so it does take a little time to withdraw the solution from the vial and likewise, it does take a little time to inject it in. 29g would probably be a better balance of efficient movement of the solution vs size/pain of the needle but I'll be using up these 30g first before I try the 29g. lsu777 also recommends the 2 needle leur lock approach where you have removable needle tips- larger for withdrawing, switch to smaller for injecting.

Thanks, I just found the post a few pages back on the leur lock approach. It also mentions warming the vials. If I have a single 10 ml vial, I wonder if there there be any degradation if repeatedly warmed due to it all being in a single large vial? Might just get 10 individual 1 ml vials just to be safe.

That sounds better, but I just find the schedule odd. What is it with the "every 3 weeks" thing? I mean, I know just enough about Test C to assume what the doctor is thinking here, it's just that I've never spoke to anyone on TRT who was doing well on it, feeling well on it, and had good bloodwork and health indicators, who was taking a single shot every 3 weeks. Every 10 days is better, but it still sounds like a protocol that won't be ideal. Maybe it'll be a decent starting point and you'll refine things later.
But the main thing I wanted to say to you now that you've gotten some better guidance is to record everything you do and how you feel at the time so later on if you want to make an adjustment you can use this "journal" as a reference back to what you did(what dose? taken when? SQ or IM? etc) and how you felt, how you slept, how your sex drive was, training/exercise, all of that. Obviously you'll have periodic bloodwork done to see things from an objective viewpoint as well. This way you'll have a record to go back to and help you make decisions about possible adjustments you make in the future. Good luck, it could be a rocky road, but it may not, this may fix you right up in no time. Either way, I hope you stick with doing what you need to do to feel better and be healthier.

if he really is only going to give you 200mg for 3 weeks, do .25 subq every 5 days.
subq has better absorption numbers last time i looked. still way too low a dose but whatever
as far as needles...get from gpzservices
get 1ml syringe, 20g 1" needle to draw, 30g 1/2" for injection.

no degradation, not getting it hot enough nor staying hot long enough nor does the vial last long enough.
you can also do as above and break into 5 shots over the 3 weeks and do .2

He prescribed 10 ml total so in theory I could bump up the dose, I’ll have the quantity.

With the large 10 ml vial, or are you thinking small 1 ml vials? At the rate of 100mg/wk, the large one would last 20 weeks. I could have that 10 ml prescription distributed in 10 smaller vials, though. A little more expensive but still not too bad through GoodRX.
ETA: just placed an order with GPZ for the suggested subQ protocol. Will break up the dosages over 20 days as recommended. For my first shot though, will probably just get one 0.5 ml shot in the rear today since it’s the only needles I have currently just to get some TC into my system. Then after 10 days administer the remaining 0.5 ml in 2 subQ injections over 10 days.
Where does everyone give themselves subQ injections, abdomen?

do not bump dose, do what he says or he will think the 200mg over 20 days is a perfectly fine doe

even over 20 weeks, not enough time to degrade and after a while he is going to have to bump your doses. you want to be in the upper range for your age group...prolly above 750 minimum

yea just do stomach, its the easiest.
