Does BCBS cover TRT?

I don't have a PCP is it best to start at one of the TRT clinics or go find a PCP? I'm not sure what my latest test levels are.

Mine does, but if you have trouble, I have a website I use to get test cypionate cheap. I use it because my local pharmacy gives me 100mg/ml, and I can order 250mg/ml. It makes subcutaneous shots easier.

I'm still a little confused on how to get started on this journey.

Should I do an independent blood test or do I need to go through a TRT clinic or PCP office for them to consider prescribing?

What is the typical pricing per month for injections if they are not covered by insurance? Does it vary depending on where you source it from?

ETA: Regarding Boron is that ok to start taking prior to any blood tests to see if it has any positive impact on me?

For BCBS to cover, you have to have 2 separate labs under 300ng/dL of Free Testosterone. I started TRT 10 years ago when I was 28. I couldn’t lose weight, no libido, sluggish, fatigued, etc. My first lab result was in the 180’s and second at 222. I have been doing 200mg/ml per week, injected into thigh muscle, and my levels have consistently been around 950ng/dL. I had to switch to clomid for 1 year in order to stop shooting blanks and make a kid. EVERYTHING improved when my testosterone levels got better.

Thanks! Good to hear. My neighbor is a nurse at the clinic and seems to think the number needs to be under 349 for BCBS to cover.

I'm going in tomorrow for the first draw at a T Clinic. Curious to see if my levels are low. It would make a lot of sense.

Is there a particular brand of Boron y’all would recommend? I didn’t know if it’s all the same. My PCP has me on 200mg of test every 10 days. I’m not sure if I can tell the difference yet. I do know I have more energy but I’m also down 67 lbs since February. I completely changed my diet and started back at the gym.

Test level was 538

They can’t test for free in the office. I think I’ll just try boron in the meantime then go get a full work up later on.

frick insurance companies. Don’t let them dictate and control your hormone health. Unless you’re 70, I would 1000% get on TRT with a total of 350.

Completely your call but I can tell you it made things better for me. Split that dose up. It’s a cookie cutter protocol because that’s all they know. You’re getting a really big peaks and troughs which will made you numbers see saw more than necessary.

The chart I will post has your 200mg q10 days, 100mg q5 days, and 75mg q3.5 days. You can see the variation.

I found daily subq to work well for me. it doesnt hurt, its easy, and less likely to forget something that you do every day. I was getting lumps at first but I dont get them anymore.

I also cut back to 150mg per week. I think 200 was too much and was causing me some issues.

I recently started the daily subQ method again. So far so good. I backload a weeks worth at a time and it’s very small volumes each day.

Itchiness/tingling in my scalp., a little redness around my eyes, estrogen went high and had to get on the ai, hematocrit/hemiglobin/rbc went high, blood pressure went high.

I’m also taking hcg which may contribute, but wanted to try going a little lower. My total test was 1550 last labs. I just felt I needed to cut back I don’t need to be at 1550 I don’t believe.

Splitting up the dosage would get rid of most those sides and also make you feel better. Agree 1500 is a bit extreme.

I already do daily subq injections. That helped but not enough.

Maybe if I was hardcore working out… I don’t know.

I’ll try splitting it up. My doctor did mention that a lot of people do that so I’ll give it a try when I get it refilled in a couple days.

My PCP gave me an order for a test labs. He didn't give me any specific instructions for lab prep.

Is there anything specific to be done? Test in the AM, fast, no lifting before labs, etc? Tried searching online but not getting clear suggestions.

Just fast like normal bloodwork. I don’t know about the exercise but I’d lean towards not doing anything
