Tore mine playing soccer. Everyone told me I would need surgery, friend was a physical therapist. Did some PT for a few months and now I'm back to normal, playing soccer & running 10Ks.

Can't see any reason not to try the PRP and PT but if you have to go ahead with he scope and clean-up, it's not bad at all. I had it done and 2-3 mos you should be back to normal with some PT.

I appreciate all the feedback on this. Will update in a few weeks/months on how pool work is going and if I finally get PRP.

It will only heal itself or be able to truly be repaired if it’s in an area with blood flow (one area doesn’t have good flow). I had lateral tears in both knees — one from an injury in high school and the other due they thought to age (not overweight).
Had one scoped in October and the other in December. Super easy recovery — Dr Adam perry at LOS in Lafayette did both. Was very pleased — both were in 2014 and I never had another problem.
ETA I tried PT for a while — had no effect whatsoever other than helped to strengthen when surgery time came. I’ve run 7 or 8 half marathons since then.

Dr Perry is most likely who I would go to to get mine looked at.
Just curious, how old were you when you had your knees scoped?

Perry was great -- did NOT like his NP and when scheduling an appt for the second knee I made it clear that I didn't want to see the NP. I was told it "wouldn't be a problem" as he no longer worked there (that was in 2014 - he was an arse).
I was 45 at the time. Every now and again it gets "tight" when I stand up from kneeling in church but running pain free is beyond awesome.
So Perry did my two knees and also my son's knee (meniscus that got torn in a PE basketball game). He's good. Does surgery at Lafayette Surgical Specialty Hospital on Kaliste.

Wish I was back home for this.

Oh ... look for referrals from friends who have experience with this. Good luck.
