Has anyone gotten the gel injections in knee? If so, did it help?

I've done several and the patients report its patient specific. Sometimes they come back and say it helped for 6 months and sometimes they say it didn't help a bit.

I get a hyaluronic acid injection in my knee every six months due to no meniscus and degradation of other cartilage. Have been doing this for 2.5 years now.
It helps me immensely for 4-5 months, not back to normal, but significant reduction in pain that lets me do normal daily activities and exercise. I don't run anymore to extend the length of time this will work and delay a knee replacement. My doctor won't do it more than every six months, but some will (probably insurance related as this treatment doesn't accelerate further soft-tissue breakdown).
As the other poster said, it seems to have mixed results. Worth a shot.

I was always under the understanding that insurance only approves it every 6 months.
I usually offer a steroid injection every 3 and Synvisc injection every 6.

How well it helps is relative to how extensive your osteoarthritis, degradation, etc. is.
Look into having it done with PRP.

I'll trade you a couple oak saplings for a knee injection.
Serious answer though, my MIL had some rooster comb injections or some shite like that, it seemed to help for a while but she eventually had knee replacement.

PRP is Platelet Rich Plasma
Using a concentrated dose of your own blood’s growth factors injected into the site of injury, inflammation, etc.
It’s being done more and more in the sports world, both professional and collegiate all over the world. I firmly believe PRP is a factor in why we see athletes recover much more quickly from injuries. Also used in vampire facials and to regenerate hair growth.
I’ve done both PRP and HA injections individually and separately in knees.
Here’s an article from Johns Hopkins explaining it in more detail.
