I was trying to give you an out for laughing at 100-200 g of carbs.

If you don't feel like taking an out, outline why 100-200 g carbs is laughable for OP. You rip ad hominem attacks and have a post that's just a laughing emoji.
I laughed at the wording - "keep your carbs sustainable". What does that even mean? What level of carbs is "unsustainable"? What exactly are we even talking about being "sustained" in the first place?

It's just more meaningless pablum - sort of like "everything in moderation". Metaphorical empty calories - pun intended.

You've ruined another thread, congrats. This dude is 20 years old and in college, he's going to eat carbs. Instead of being reasonable and say exercise, try to limit carbs, and avoid drunk food, which is what a college kid should do, you went full David Koresh as usual.

Your persistence of being a repitive a-hole is impressive, but not admirable.

I've barely said anything. To what exactly are you referring? What exactly did I "repeat"? "Full David Koresh"? Melodrama much?

Most people will have an easier time sticking with eating a higher carb diet than 20g per day.

Sustainable as he's using it is just the person's ability to stick with the diet. It does not seem overly complex to me.

So, his choices are an "unsustainable" keto-type level of carbs and a "sustainable" level of 100-200 grams per day? You're right, it doesn't seem complex. It seems simplistic at best and nonsensical at worst.

No, he's proposing a higher level as more sustainable.

It doesn't need to be tied to a particular #. Most of us don't lose our minds if we exceed a certain # of carbs. The overall amount of intake should lead to the result you want. Play with the carbs (or God forbid, fat or protein) until you get the results you want.

Weight loss? Health? Longevity?

All of the above to an extent, less on longevity then the others though. I have told you before and now have a huge arse meta analysis to back me up that most of the health benefits from keto come from the actual weight loss. Not all but most.

You know I feel ketosis a great tool and great for health especially heart health but you get many of the same benefits just by losing the weight

Good god he came in here and tanked his thread

The rest of us are trying to provide a healthy diet path that still goes hand in hand with a college life style.

Gives you some wiggle room with drinking and late night grubbing.

This is always the thing with people making big claims about their diets and overall health effects. If it makes you lose weight and you're overweight, there are so many benefits from that alone.

Yep and this is why I'm about two seconds away from quiting the board, no understanding of how to apply things to different types of people.

I mean seriously, does anybody in their right mind think a college kid is going to stick to keto? Doubtful and the only ones I knew that did just ate cheap bacon all God damn day which is not healthy at all and drank vodka like a fish.

You have to understand your audience and cater the diet to that.

Like I said I love keto as a tool, but for many it's hard. Sorry 99% of college kids aren't giving up rice, pizza, burgers etc. So how can we help them? Allow them to eat those things and still loose weight.

Let's be honest he is in college, he doesn't care about maximizing hdl, he cares about having a good time and looking good so he can get pussy. Not that hard to understand, every red blooded man should understand the urgency to look good to help with slaying some poon.

You have to make your own decision, but I certainly hope you stay posting here. You bring a lot of knowledge and an educated take on what you discuss.

Someone started a keto thread, other people made recommendations (some goofy, like the alcohol comment), I never said anything about keto, I don't do keto and have never done keto...and yet you are 2 seconds away from quitting the board?

Seriously, please point to ONE THING I have advocated in this thread.

I'm not disputing this. I would like to know out of curiosity what the data are saying about this wrt to Alzheimer's or other dementia.

I guess. Ketosis isn't something I think very much about. It's weird how you seem to think I do.

I have said over and over and over and over and over again that my main advice for people is: try to limit carbs, eat things you like, don't feel forced to over eat vegetables, and be generally active. I'm just not sure what is controversial about that.

Yeah. The kid asked what keto would look like for a college kid. My answer to that is pretty easy.

If the question is then, what are the alternatives to keto with the goal of x, my answer is pretty easy also.

FWIW, I don't think it's particularly hard to be low carb as a college student, which seems to be the zeitgeist of this thread. shite, even Taco Bell has the taco now that has the whole egg as the shell. Most fast food places make it pretty easy. And just drink straight Scotch!
