Jacked my back up trying to max out in dead lifts. Form break down, paid the price. 3 days on some roids and magically nothing hurts
. Stuff that was aching for weeks, gone.

Well it is not the real good stuff, but it seems to have worked
Prednisone is a corticosteroid. It prevents the release of substances in the body that cause inflammation. It also suppresses the immune system.

True, but since I am out of lifting for a couple weeks it is making everything feel good. I have been fighting tennis elbow and some lingering pain in my quads. Being old sucks sometimes.

Wait til you cycle off the prednisone. It sucks. Like all the air leaving a balloon. Enjoy it while you’re on it, pal.

Well some steroids are great, the AAS mind big gains and very short recovery time. But is the risk worth the reward?

I despise Prednisone and its variants.
I managed to avoid it over 4 decades+, until last fall when they thought I had walking pneumonia (the first time I took it, I told my wife I felt like a taxidermied fox: tongue out, eyes stitched wide open), and then I had to take it with each of my chemo treatments for lymphoma. The roids were nearly as bad as the chemo (they are supposed to lessen effects, but I had them halve the Prednisone dose).
All that said, I honestly think it may have helped heal my knee and back issues. I was unable to run from July 2015 until just before my chemo treatments ended June 2017. I had tried here and there to jog lightly, but my meniscus was jacked. I tried to ski on it Easter 2016 (after I'd just nutted up skiing through mid-March w moderate pain), and my wife had to help me walk to the car a couple days.
Since July 8, I've run 3 half marathons, including a 1700 ft climb (and worse for knees--2400' descent) trail one in CO, and have been increasing pace steadily, without issue. I can run a sub-7 miles without pain now.
Now--knock on MFin wood. I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop (literally?), but for now I'm thanking the rest, PT, ice, and I really think partly the ROIDS!!!!
the roid rage was real, btw. I totally lost it over nothing several times. The balls grew back though or else my peen just shrank.

Stem Cell treatment for knee repair has been showing some pretty positive results with less side effects so far. You should look into that.
