Joined as a beta tester for a new fitness wearable called WURQ

You wear it only when you workout at two locations: on the wrist and across the chest.
It will have an app to process the data and eventually be a subscription service when it’s full production. As a beta tester, I will never pay a fee moving forward.
The device is supposed to be intuitive and know what movement you are performing without you having to input it. I believe the only thing you have to enter is weight selection, but maybe not even that because it measures speed of the lift which is the metric it uses to tell the wearer to add weight.
They will ship out these to the 100 or so who signed up in about 3 months, and I’ll let you guys know if it lives up to their hype.

WurQ is a spinout from Harvard University focused on combining wearable technologies and artificial intelligence to provide tracking, guidance, and gamification during strength training. Compared to existing solutions, we aim to fully automate the tracking experience in a gym or at home and to provide holistic strength data and actionable insights to athletes, weekend warriors and anyone wanting to achieve fitness goals.

Anything that isnt tracking all day is pretty useless, in my opinion.
If it's just tracking my lift why do I need it? I can put my numbers in one of the gazillion other apps that already exist for free.

They asked me to be an alpha tester.
Not that it's a competition or anything.

It will count/measure ROM, Reps, Bar velocity, etc and it is supposed to know what exercise you’re doing without your input.
We talked about it and they said they have been having earlier test groups do every conceivable exercise and programming the device to immediately recognize the movements.

Will fail unless they implement an everyday wearable solution with something like android wear or it's small enough to not look stupid on the other wrist while wearing a watch.

how, exactly?

Exactly. How will it know a pushup from a bench press? How will it know from a BB bench from a DB bench?

I asked the same questions. The creator is a Harvard PhD Software Engineer. My guess is through accelerometers, other sensitive components and creative software in the two wearables.
I’ll let you know if it’s accurate when I finally get it.

It took them a whole year to work out the kinks to get it ready for Beta testing.

I had a 30 min on-boarding meeting today with one of their employees.
Give me a few workouts to see how well it performs.
