I’ve always kept cliff bars just as a quick snack

I probably eat one a month if I’m desperate and in a rush in the go.

Every time I look at the labels it blows my mind. There are more grams of added sugars in these things than protein

How did they fool the consumers that this is a healthy snack? They did a great job

I like the Pure Protein Chocolate Peanut Butter bars when I have a sweet tooth. Kind of reminds me of a Reeces Cup

20g protein
1g added sugar
200 calories

Sometimes a quick hit of sugar, protein and calories is all I'm looking for.

It's good for quick energy before, during, and after workouts. What were you expecting it to do?

I know what it is I’m just saying it’s funny hearing people think these things are healthy

Cliff Bars helped me lose weight several years back. I would eat one around 10 am and one around 2 pm at work and that was my "lunch." I wound up losing around 60lbs within 12-14 months.

But since then I've realized they are pretty much a Snickers bar in disguise. I have taken them with me on hikes when carbs are needed, but for a protein bar a few times a week I now eat a Vital Performance bar.

We keep Atkins snack bars in our house since they are super keto friendly and they hit so well at night.

I find the vast majority of "protein bars" should in fact be called "sugar" or "carb" bars.

And beyond just the macros, they are often littered with a 100-deep list of nasty sounding ingredients.

These aren't geared towards being a protein bar. I mean there's a guy climbing a rock on the label. This is a snack like trail mix for on the go. Clif does make the Builder bar which is more like a traditional protein bar.

I've never, ever thought of Clif bars as "snacks." They're supposed to be high-calorie fuel for outdoor endurance activities like backpacking, trekking, cycling, mountaineering, etc.. as such... a bunch of sugar is fine.

I like Rx bars. No clue if they are better for me or not but that’s just a preference.

I know exactly how unhealthy they are.... but I can run ultras with them as my main fuel source, so I don't care. White chocolate macedamia nut ftw!

They're not my favorite. I don't eat that many bars though. When I do, it is usually the Ratio brand, either Vanilla Almond or Coconut Almond. However, my kids love the Clif Kids chocolate brownie bars. My middle one takes one in his lunch every day. They're not real fatty, and are mainly carbs and a little sugar, but better than a Snickers. They're half the calories, 1/3 of the fat, less than half the sugar, and fairly similar in carbs and protein.

Built Churro Puff bars are the best protein bars in the history of meatheads.
