Did an Inbody yesterday and it really took the wind out of my sails. Thought I was 15-16% bf (based on navy method and general looking in the mirror) and maybe 10lbs from being really lean and jacked and it came back like 20.5%. So 10-15lbs away from being 10 lbs away haha. Nothing I can do about it now cause I’m not going to do Squatober in a big caloric deficit.

So did my scan today before and after my workout. The machine my gym uses is a Styku, it's definitely impressive (and slightly discouraging) seeing the 3D scan. That thing takes all sorts of measurements, but it only gives fat mass and fat-free mass. Doesn't give the lean muscle percentage.
Pre workout:
247 lb
34.6% fat
85.4 lb fat
161.6 lb non-fat
Post workout (and consuming 32oz water):
244 lb
33.8% fat
82.5 lb fat
161.5 lb non-fat
I have a LONG way to go, but I started 11/4/21 at 280 lb. So down 36 lb in 11 months.

It’s a lifestyle change and the way you are doing it is way more sustainable. Sure, you could diet at 1500 calories a day and lose it quick but it won’t stay off.

If actually been doing the evolt scans more recently. This was my last inbody scan.

I stay between 6-12 percent 220-240 lbs unless injury or something crazy happens with life. As you see I was out for awhile I would say for about 2 months prior to that. That's why I shot down from 19 percent while gaining lbm at the same time because I had small layoff before that 19 percent reading. When I started with fitness I was probably 300 lbs 45 percent bf. I can gain 30 lbs of bad weight sitting on my arse for a month. So my nutrition is down to science when it comes cutting but each person is different. I don't have access to inbody since that nutrishope closed. I now use their competitors scale evolt 360 if I want a reading.

That's amazing. How do you gain 10lbs of muscle in two months? What kind of supplements were you taking?
Posted on 10/19/22 at 3:59 pm to BigPerm30
Part of it is because I had that lean mass before and I was coming back from a small layoff, the other half is nutrition. Food is the most anabolic thing you can put in your body. Anybody can do it if you lift heavy compound lifts and eat properly. Where I was before I got into fitness was way behind where most people start from. If anyone here wants to know the basics of nutrition this ebook is great.
burn the fat feed the muscle

False. Tren, Clen, Win, etc. are much more anabolic than chicken breasts...
I'm just kidding.
Kinda.

anybody know where to get these done in the lafayette area
Posted on 10/26/22 at 8:23 am to Jerrysworld
According to the Inbody website, there are no locations within 25 miles of Lafayette.
I went get another scan this weekend with not such good results.
+0.9% BF
-2.3lb SMM
-4lbs body weight
I'm a fat boy again at 16.5% BF. Anytime I'm over 16% I start getting in my head about "Yeah, my love handles are obviously fatter". "Is that a double chin?" "These pants are noticeably tighter". But in reality, none of that is actually true.
So starting next week, I'm going to start adding some cardio to my routine, even though I completely loath it.
A year ago I was at 13.8% BF, and I would like to get back down to that again in the next couple months, while maintaining my current SMM.

Hmm I lost 5 lbs on squatober from dialing in diet, getting 15-20k steps per day, and lifting heavy. Put 40lbs on squat and feel strong and lost 0.25” on my waist.Took an inbody before and it was 20.5% bf; took one today and it said I was 21% bf and lost 7 lbs lean mass and actually gained 2 lbs of fat from last month, with almost all of the lean mass loss coming from one arm and my legs.
I’m trying to rationalize how that makes sense but I can’t come up with a scenario where I only lost lean mass and gained fat eating 180g protein a day and staying in a small deficit. Leaning towards “frick that dumb machine”

Did you take it fasted first thing in the morning?
Either way, the results are not right. It’s literally impossible to gain strength, lose a quarter inch off the waist and gain body fat. It’s literally not physically possible

I think they were both done pretty much the same conditions: Fasted but I did drink coffee because I couldn't get into the inbody until 11 when the gym opened (and I get up at 7). I also walked about a half mile to the gym to do the test both times, and it was cold AF this morning so maybe that affected things?
Posted on 11/1/22 at 10:43 pm to Canuck Tiger
Maybe, ignore that one and test again after nov or wait until jan

yea that sounds like a plan. I have to say I felt MASSIVE today doing arm farm and am noticeably more vascular in my shoulders and arms than even September. I did find this online:
"Generally, lower body temperature means an increase in impedance, which means lower fat-free mass (i.e. less muscle, more fat). A study showed that sauna exposure increased body temperature and caused a 1.7-3.2% reduction in body fat. And after being in an icy room, body temperature decreased and body fat increased by 1.3-4.2%. And while body temperature from the cold exposure returned to normal after 30 mins, body fat % did not return to a stable state even an hour after cold exposure.'
I had gone for a 10k step walk before heading over to the Inbody this am; it was like 40F outside and I was pretty chilly. I bet that is what was different; 4% is a lot!

This definitely sounds like something. You are also not supposed to workout prior to doing the test. And, make sure you are hydrated. Not overly hydrated but not dehydrated either. I did two tests last time about 3 hours apart and the 1st one was right when I woke up and a little dehydrated. It said I hadn’t made any progress because I loss 1lb of muscle mass. The 2nd test I took hydrated confirmed my suspicions because I had actually gained 1lb of muscle mass while losing almost 1% bf.

In happier news, I met the bodybuilder/trainer who put together my brother’s diet/workout plan to get him jacked and under 10% bf at that gym, and he said “ah yes I recognize your big arse arms; are just like your brother’s” haha
