What does removing seed oils do? Is it inflammation?
You are what you eat. It's odd to me that we need "studies" to know that nasty over-processed oils wouldn't just be dandy in the body.
I believe in double blinded research as much as the next guy - but I think it sometimes drifts away from science and into scientism. It's the same thing from the 20s and 30s that gave us baby formula. In a lab, they separate all the ingredients of breast milk and then just assumed putting them together via synthetic process was the same as giving baby's actual breast milk. You don't even want to look at the ingredients of formula today.

Finally got around to finishing the podcast. The only thing I absolutely hated was his fiber company at the end. During the podcast, we tour multiple ideas on eating real food, then at the end he is going on about this fiber supplement. I get it, but I also hate the idea. Eat real food, don’t create a product to use as a crutch.
I also really can’t believe layne devoted his time to “respond” to this show. It’s not that he’s right/wrong, his ego just can’t let some things go.

this is true for layne, but he has a hard on for lustig too because of past claims
and i will say, its not that i dont agree with the podcast, i do to an extent, like layne, i just dont agree with some of the claims he makes and i just dont agree that for the great majority of americans that they are going to be willing to give up things like tacos, sushi, habachi, pasta, hamburgers etc etc could go on and on
i do agree if you can keep 80% of your meals to whole foods, mainly big serving of a good quality protein(i dont care about leaness of the cut, just quality), green veggies, maybe a small serving of fruit....none of this cooked in oil....you will be much better off overall long term. doesnt affect body fat loss like he claims, thats simply calories and protein but overall health long term....yea be a good thing for sure.

I think it makes sense in this case. Huberman has a very large platform and is generally respected, and here comes Lustig espousing demonstrably false and inaccurate information.
For all his flaws, Layne cares greatly about being scientifically accurate as possible, and cares about what nonsensical information is being peddled by charlatans preying on the uninformed.

They require so much healthcare because they are fat af not because of msg and other stupid shite like many on this thread beleive
Despite the earlier fiery exchanges I think we’re all actually close to being on the same page. The people who are fat don’t care what they put in their body, so they are generally the ones consuming processed garbage. Yes if they want to lose weight they need to cut our simple carbs and sugar before worrying about msg. On the other hand, I’ll wager that most people ITT debating the merits of various cooking oils already are health conscious and not overweight

i dunno man....seen a lot of fat asses and skinny fat fricks that worry abotu shite like this, yet can not even do a single dead hang chin up
its not that i dont think you should cut out simple cars and sugar and shite like that...i do but that not how you lose body fat. thats a simple math problem...eat in a caloric deficit and eat 0.8g per lbs of protein or more. where the rest of the calories come from...i do not care. atleast until you get to below 14-15% on a dexa scan. We have over 200 studies that prove this
now the health benefits of a diet so many talk about.....understand 80% or more of the health benefits comes really from the body fat loss. tons of studies showing this.
now at some point...yea should be watching seed oils, processed crap, simple carbs, sugar etc but i just feel at that point, most have learned how to eat anyways.
as far as msg....asking seriously...does anyone have links to any studies show direct causation of anything, good or bad, when it comes to health
and ftr i eat like most in this thread, atleast when im worrried about body fat levels. but thats personal preference.
i will say...processed crap tears my stomach up so i avoid it.
