I keep hearing about how many people are deficient in vitamin D. I take 2000 IU (30 mcg) daily. Is this enough for someone who's sitting in the office most of the day?

Can't tell you if it is enough. Bloodwork showed I was low. I take 50,000 IU once a week and my levels are good now. A lot cheaper and easier to take it once a week for me.

I take 10,000 IU daily and get my bloodwork done twice a year.

I wonder how much you get from direct sunlight exposure? I have heard 20 minutes a day without sunblock on as much exposed skin as possible is a happy medium for getting adequate Vit D but keeping the risk of cancer to a minimum. Any truth to this?

I was taking 4,000 IU daily and I was borderline low.Upped it to 5,000.
You really need to have blood work done to determine adequate dose.

Yea that’s about right, 10-15 min in summer but not at one time.

This time of year everyone prolly is deficient in vit d but no way to know how much or if that’s enough without bloodwork

I’m usually on verge of being low cause I wear frc at work so even when I leave my office I get almost no sun when I have hard hat and glasses on. Also I’m outside a lot at home but wear sunblock and or long sleeve dry fit stuff to keep frombgettingnsondark as I get stupid dark easily

Everyone is different but my husband works outdoors in short sleeves spring through fall (long sleeve In winter) and his was LOW.

He takes I think 5000.

Vit D is fat soluble — take what you need but not more than.

With my bloodwork, my Dr looks at my Vit D, 25-Hydroxy. They say the normal range should be between 30-96 ng/mL. I was as low as 16 back in 2019, and my Dr suggested I started taking 1000-2000 IU of Vid D. Been doing 2,000-3,000 since and have been in the mid 20s (25-27) last 2 years. I sit at an office all day, and it appears it's enough for me; but will know for certain in 3-4 weeks during my next physical.

But you won't really know until you have your bloodwork done

Same but I get bloodwork every couple of months and they've stopped mentioning Vitamin D after I started taking it daily. Sam's and Costco will have your cheapest bulk options.
