How long does it take to normalize when coming out of obesity?

Take the China Virus as example. It is well accepted that it harms the obese notably more than people of a healthier weight. I'm working my way down from mild obesity (6'1", 265lb) right now, am right now 233. Admittedly still obese.
The question is, how long after I cross that threshold to just being overweight and then to healthy does your body start to clinically reflect that? Or, in other words, how long does it take the body to unwind the damage of obesity?

Quickly I would imagine. Your body is a resilient adaptive machine. Make it adapt through diet and exercise.

A smoker of 20 years has healthy lungs in 7 years iirc.. I don't have a solid answer for you but I imagine it does so pretty quickly. The strain that obesity causes immediately subsides with every pound you lose, and being in a calorie deficit improves things like insulin resistance.

I’m under the assumption that it’s not the weight itself that causes the health issues.
The lifestyle choices that cause obesity also cause the negative health effects.
If you eat clean and exercise consistently. I’d imagine your health would improve within a few weeks

Almost immediately upon your lifestyle change.

I'm right there with you. I've dropped 15lbs but when does the belly go away?

When you reach a healthy 180-190, at that height. I've lost 25 lbs, but still have the belly. I think it will take getting down to 165, for me.

That's the weight I was my senior yr in high school.
I'm 6'0 that would be too skinny now.
