Ive leased farmland and will be doing a lot more outside work on weekends. I admit that my fulltime desk job has me unfit for outside work, and i want to be proactive for staying hydrated on weekends (this makes the ensuing work week much more enjoyable). Have any of you developed a homemade powder mix of minerals to save money? conceptually, find a mix recipe online, go to drug emporium and buy the powders in bulk, keep a mix ready to use on weekends, etc. Nuun tablets work great and taste great but they are $$. looking for cheaper homemade alternative. TIA!

You are overthinking it, drink plenty of water and add one or two Powerade zeros per day and a Little fresh fruit

I use LMNT powder during the summer when I sweat a lot. Their formulation is pretty simple.

1 gallon water
1 tsp table salt
1 tsp salt lite
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 cup sugar, can do less if you don't want that much, but it has been shown to help with absorption. It's still way less than you would get from gatorade.
I flavor with kool aid packets. You can do without it but it doesn't taste great.
It works for me. I sweat a lot and it is a very salty sweat, so I need more electrolytes than the standard drink.

See if you can copy Redmond's Re-Lyte's unflavored formula. Probably the best on the market. Most don't add enough sodium b/c they know people don't like the tast of really salty water but it's essential to hydration.

Look up snake juice, it’s promoted by this fanatical guy that encourages extended fasting and curses a lot. It’s a good recipe, and includes all your daily requirements for electrolytes. It’s similar to a previous posters, but no sugar, and adds magnesium in the form of Epson salt.

salt of choice (I use Redmond's), potassium citrate powder from amazon, magnesium malate powder from amazon, sugar or sweetener.

What ratios do you use of each?

I use this when I need electrolytes.
2L of water
1/2 tsp Himalayan pink salt (sodium chloride)
1/2 tsp food grade Epsom salt (magnesium sulphate)
1 tsp No Salt (potassium chloride)
1 tsp baking soda (sodium bicarbonate)
Taste isn’t bad to me, less noticeable when cold.
