Im at a stand still waiting for the VA to get the records from the ER I went to so they can then request a referral to a podiatrist and get his opinion. Union won't let me come back to work without doc permission so Im just sitting around bored until then. thoughts?

ETA:: before anyone asks, I rate FMLA but I'd rather work.

bone takes 6-8 weeks to heal

you're looking at 6 weeks of non weight bearing in a cam walker boot (if you're my patient)

It is very slightly displaced, but should heal okay. It does extend into the joint, so you may have issues with arthritis and pain in the future.

so you think doc wont approve me going back to work for 6 weeks at least? I'm a painter for military housing. Hoping they might be willing to train me for an office job in the mean time.

6 weeks man. You aren't crouching to paint shite for 2 months or more.

Where there fracture is, anything you do or OVER do will set you back another 2 weeks.

Sucks man.

You could sit on a rolling stool and paint baseboards

If he did approve, which 99.9% of doctors would not, I still wouldn't do it. If you don't stay off of it, and let it heal you're looking at a chronic problem and possibly surgery.

When I broke my foot I was on crutches and in a boot for 6 weeks. Didn't attempt to put weight on that foot until about week 5 and then just slowly transitioned to the boot only. It's really not worth trying to risk coming back from it early or trying to do too much. It was miserable, mine was my right foot so I had to learn to drive left footed (couldn't drive with the boot on). I lived on delivery food for damn near 3 weeks because I couldn't go to the store or stay on one foot long enough to cook. So I'd just hop from the couch to the door, and if I had leftovers hop to the kitchen. I feel for ya man.

Is Geico your carrier or another driver's? If the other driver's who was at fault, you can claim lost wages through them. Some policies even cover it for their policy holders. Worth a shot.

its mine and im the only car involved. But I got good news from my company today that they are going to put me on administrative duty until im healed up enough to go back to my main job.

#DeskJockey.

The adjuster is dragging arse. he said he had the car towed and it took 2 days so they could try to get power to it and check the odometer. today he said thye have it but couldn't find the key i left in the front seat. I had scanned and emailed him a copy of hyundai service from the same day of the accident, with the mileage on it. but he doesn't want to use that.

And now of course, he only works mon-fri so i'll be waiting through the weekend before I hear anything. looking at 10+ days for a claim to get paid. frick Geico.

Wish I could upload a picture of my broken foot I had a few years back. Had a complete break in my 2nd and 4th metatarsal and a break in my 3rd one. Ended up having surgery on to repair it and couldn't walk for almost three months.

Couldn't drive, couldn't work, I was pretty much confined to my couch for 3 months. Was terrible.

I am recovering from broken ankle

6-7 weeks no weight bearing another 2-3 weeks walking boot. The stiffiness, lost range of motion, and swelling biggest things I am dealing with now.

I was luckily able to work from home for the 6 weeks

GeauxT or Geauxmedic gave me good info

update. Finally got to go to Durham VA friday ( 14 days after break). He said I had some rly good callusing going on, got me to re take x rays while putting pressure on to check for separation.

I'm going off memory so I dont remember the exact terminology, The tendon right above the break he said usually rips before a break, but mine is fine for some reason, But there is a little separation in the cartilage above it when pressure is applied. I'm driving back Tuesday for a CT scan on the foot and a follow up with his surgical team to see if they need to go in and tack it down.

He says I will have post traumatic osteoarthritis, plenty of pain but shouldn't be any loss of function. probably fusions in my future to manage the pain.

I got a cam boot that has an air pump up, but the air seems to put pressure in all the wrong places so I dont pump it up. I can pretty much walk on it barefoot or in the boot. I know im supposed to keep pressure off but I Feel like using it with minimal pressure is a lot more helpful and actually makes the pain go away.

I have an auto immune disease so my immune system is already hyperactive. My white count is still high even taking two immuno suppressants. Part of my treatment includes colchicine, which they give for gout and keeps the whites from being overly aggressive.

I think a combination of location of the break and the condition are helping me recover pretty quickly. Hoping the CT comes back good and they let me go back to normal work schedule in another week or two. This admin duty they have me on is brutally boring.

Ibuprofen has always worked better for me than narcotics. I don't drink so maybe the liver will hold up

ETA. tendon is fibilaris. it's either that separating or some cartilage between that and the 2nd metatarsal base at the joint.
