I've been doing various strenuous sports at least 5 days a week. I have issues cramping up even though I'm plenty of salt and including lots of bananas and potatoes into my diet(for potassium). Is there something else I can eat to give me the number of electrolytes I need or am I going to need some sort of supplement? Perhaps I'm cramping for reasons other than electrolyte shortage?

the opposite of what you are asking but this is cheap and effective for cramps/recovery. Take it before you go to sleep.

Dates have a ton of potassium. Raw milk is extremely hydrating as well.

Bananas don’t have that much potassium, you’d need to eat a lot. I’ve started using LMNT after big sweats, it’s salty and tastes great. You can get a sample pack on amazon that has all the flavors to find which ones you like.

I like it better than Liquid IV, it’s saltier and doesn’t have any sugar. Highly recommend.

I need to try this LMNT. I really like pickle juice, either the branded bottles of pickle juice, or just buy a jar of pickles and drink the juice. I don't know if it's anything but a tasty treat, but I don't cramp.

Does the OP have regular blood draws? I like to always have a recent comprehensive metabolic panel(no more than 6 months old), so I know if any values are trending out of bounds. Also, any underlying medical issues that may be contributing?

From a food perspective, I think eating as wide a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables as possible is always a good idea. In the hotter part of the year I always eat a wider variety of fruits and vegetables due to availability, and eating chilled fresh fruit and vegetables just sounds good when it's muggy and hot outside all day and night.

I have a packet of LMNT and a fresh bottle of water waiting for me in the car after a ride, then I eat some pickle spears when I get home. I used to have headaches for the rest of the day after a big sweat but not anymore.
