Are dumbbells enough?

I walk over 12 miles 5 days a week and have lost 20 lbs in the last few months doing so with no change of diet or working out.
I still have some body fat to get rid of so i went and bought a 35 lb pair of dbs from Academy.
Will these dumbbells help me shred fat? Or will they just build muscle under the fat?
Also, would walking over 10 miles 5 days a week be considered enough cardio? I lost 20 lbs in just over 5 months

Yes. Lifting weights is a great, if not the best, way to lose fat.
Also if you’re wanting to lose fat and haven’t switched up your diet, that is crucial depending on what your diet consists of.

Yes

Congrats. Who's got time to walk 12 miles a day unless you are a mailman?

If you've lost 20 lbs in 5 months then you're doing great. Building muscle will help keep your metabolism up so you don't gain it all back

My walking is job related.

Dumbbells are great but you don't even need that. Body weight movements can produce the same benefits; pushup, sit-ups, pullups, air squats, burpees, lunges, etc. If done in a continuous circuit this can be considered a cardio activity as well.
walking in general is a great activity but hard to say that 10-12 miles in a week constitutes cardo. I think of cardio being based on heart rate level not just distance or time.

Not 10-12 miles a week. 10-12 miles 5 days per week.

You'll outgrow the 35 lbs dumbbells in 3 weeks and will have to go heavier. Join a gym. Do HIIT and get a weightlifting program together. Clean up your diet as well. There are no shortcuts.

Did you just randomly start walking this much for your job or get a new job?

You sell solar panels door to door?

Use those weights 3 x's a week, focus on getting a higher number of reps as that will work on making muscles leaner, which with losing weight, will work towards the look you seem to want. Keep your reps real strict, no jerking & swaying, concentrate on your form. Add reps as you get stronger. Once your arms get firmer, add some push ups, again less reps, good form, then add reps. But weights & cardio, if consistent, will burn fat for you.As for cardio, distance is good but time is a better way to get where you want. Most cardiologists say anything over 20 minutes will get your heart beating faster than "normal" which is the goal of cardio, to push your heart rate to pumping faster. Some say anything over 45 minutes is a waste of time, but keep it under a time, build up to say, 30-40 minutes,
& increase your speed. Regardless of any specific diet, drinking a large glass of water before each meal will fill your stomach & you won't feel the need to eat as much. Big thing is to just be consistent. Most of the writings say for each week you take off, it takes you 2 weeks just to get back to where you were.

You are probably getting down votes because it seems like body weight gets discounted here. I have lost 20 pounds in 5 months primarily doing body weight and working out with no more than 45 pounds. I would have lost more but I haven't changed my eating habits which I will be doing to lose 15 more pounds.

Carry one of those dumbbells with you while you're walking. Problem solved.

Most people don't know how to progress body weight that's why.

And they are "brainwashed" into thinking that the only way to get stronger is to lift heavy weight. If that's what people want to do to stay fit that's fine. More power to them but it's not the only way.
