What benefits did you see?

Curious if it’s worth it. My gym has an upgrade for unlimited for $50 per month.

Friend of mine wakes up every day at 5 AM and freezes himself in his ice tub that is 35° for about three minutes.
He says it’s becoming an addiction.

I would rather eat glass then freeze myself every day when I wake up.

I fell for the ice bath in the morning craze. I don't do it anymore after more research. Why increase stress first thing in the morning?

It hasn’t been shown to have any measurable benefits and is possibly harmful. Was never a huge fan of cold plunge/ice baths but a few of my buddies got into it. Being cold like that is miserable to me.

Cold plunge or cryo? I’ve seen cold plunges after workouts could negatively affect muscle growth.

My wife bought a cold plunge about a month ago. She does it every morning and night. I tried it once, but it was too miserable. She loves it though.

For me, that's half the point. I use my cold plunge as a sort of meditation or yoga chamber. Every morning my body fights me getting into it, but I focus on my breathing and meditate until I no longer feel the cold. It's hard, and it takes practice. Some days I can't get to that point, but when I do, it's bliss. It's almost a high.

I've seen videos of people doing it and they're fighting the cold. They're tightening up their body, breathing quickly, and vocally voicing displeasure as they wait for the timer to tick down. Don't. Let it be. Accept that you will be miserable going in, and push through it to calm your body and mind. Focus on slowing your breathing. Keep your mind on the air coming in and out of your nose or your belly rising and falling. A thought will come to you. Acknowledge it and let it go. Go back to your breathing. Repeat.

If you have pain bad enough just see a PT. They can give you targeted mobility with dry needling, cupping, electro therapy etc that will speed up healing and help you prevent more future injuries. You can delay with cryotherapy and never really fix anything. Cryotherapy is cool but not something that will move the needle if you aren’t already doing all the main things (diet, exercise, sleeping enough, mobility, etc)
