Tired of paying membership fees and I think having a garage gym setup would be awesome. Any of y’all done this? For those that have, where did you get your gear (barbell, plates, bumper plates, etc.) and how much was it? I’m definitely not an OT baller so I’m working on a small budget. I’m planning on building a pull-up bar and squat rack/power cage to save some costs.

Yes, but with temps in the single digits, it's vacant this week.

Craigslist, second hand shops for much of my equipment. I did get a GHD and squat rack delivered from Dick's - great quality and pretty affordable.

You spent that much on glorified parallelettes?

No. I made my own, and good ones are around that much anyways. If you're doing things like levers and chest bar dips, it has to be sturdy. Of course you could just use pvc pipe but I went all out and did mine with plumbing pipes.

Yea a little one they call #teampain [link=( )]its a beautiful site[/link]

Look focus on a barbell and weight set first. I brag a tad on the first post, but I don't expect others to be able to afford or want what I have. Myself and others on this board like hfp can be a great resource for you.

Start with 12 sheets at a min of osb. Cut a few sheets and make a 12x12 platform. plenty of great exercises you can do from there. From there get a set of gymnastics rings and a pullup bar. After add a quality power cage(minimum 11g steel) and then a quality bench or adjustable bench. after that add adjustable dumbbells and some homemade sand bags and you are pretty much set.

After you get those, ask and we will go ode you in the right direction. Do search for home gym ideas on here.

I built a power rack out of 4x4’s. Google Buff Dudes powerrack and there is a video.

That is very impressive. I’m jealous but I dont have the space or funds for that right now. Where did you get your barbell and weights?

I’ve seen that one and a few others I like in my research as far as building power racks. I don’t know if I’ll go with a full power rack or just some stands to save space. Right now I’m leaning towards just making the stands to save the space in the garage.

Hoist adjustable bench

Why osb? If I have rubber mats does it matter?

I would love to be able to spend the money on some rogue gear but I just don’t have it right now. What are some cheaper options I can start with?

Overhead oly lifts and metcons. I figured if I got 4 45’s and 2-4 25’s I’d be ok and get iron for everything else.

Rubber mats are not enough unless you are using bumper plates only
