Day 29 done & surprise next 2 days already out.

So got a bit of decision:
I have garage gym but don't have the plates I need to really test my PR (good problem to have as been getting stronger since outfitted gym)
Options:
A)Buy more plates, Amazon has some with decent reviews that could get here tomorrow (not sure timing though) Could run to Academy and get some more expensive but will have them ready to go in the am
B)Get a day pass at a gym, do PR there
C)Try and borrow some plates, my neighbors have squat rack I see when they leave garage open

Never really tested my PR in anything, part of me says find a buddy and go to a gym just to have a spotter should things go sideways... but as I have no plans to quit lifting maybe getting more plates is the answer

What say the Squatober homies would do?

get a buddy and a day pass, some smelling salts, blast some acdc & metallica and set some prs bro and impress the gym bunnies.

If I worked out in my garage gym (and I do), the last thing I'd want to deal with when attempting PRs would be 1)different rack/cage/whatever, 2)new environment, and 3)different bar.

In the scenario you painted I would go introduce myself to my neighbor. In the highly unlikely scenario that you get told NO, just go buy some at Academy. Yes, you will pay more, but that is the fee for being unprepared.

I vote this one. No need to mix anything up. And going forward you have more plates for when you keep getting stronger.

Tomorrow’s PR is 2025 working set. Might as well go buy some plates

Wait a minute, just thought of something. What's the return policy on plates from Academy?

Could you lift with them and then take em back, put on your best sad puppy dog face and say, "I have to return these, I'm not strong enough yet."

Or would the clerk glance down at yer thighs and know you were lying?

After all, you can't hide ...those lyin' thighs.....

Wasn't really feeling it this morning. Hit a PR of 315, but I was wanting and expecting more. Guess the positives are over the year bodyweight went down 25#, bar weight went up 10#, but most importantly is form was night and day different. It's been a huge focus of mine to keep my back flat as injury is the last thing I want.

January will mark 2 years since I started actually lifting. While I'm happy with 315 in 2 years, I still want to add more weight.

Just joined the 300 club. That rep took me about 8 seconds on the way up so I didn’t even try 305 even though I really wanted to.

Day 30 PR Party Done

"buy the ticket, take the ride" - gonzo

Decided to buy more plates, got 2 more 45lb from Walmart for about $110. Actually went into gym as next door to my bank and got day pass yesterday but decided not to change things up, keep conditions the same and do PR Party in garage

I got 360lbs up. I've been using training max at 325 so pretty happy with this, that's 111% over what I've been using... Maybe could have gotten some more but didn't want to risk it.

I might run it for bench soon to test limits there, I really need to up my bench

It's been a fun month fellas, I had doubts about doing this challenge but strange that a bunch of you internet strangers can motivate someone to do it & stick with it. 1 more hangover day tomorrow!

Congrats all your PR's today boy's

Weighed in at 160.8 this morning and I turn 38 in less than a month.

Been using 320 as a TM and found it fairly easy.

My goal was to hit 2x my bodyweight today and I surpassed that goal. I hit 325 pretty easily and felt good. Tried to push it to 335 and film my lift.

No dice

I'm still extremely proud of my progress.

Ive battled through some knee issues in my early 30s and this is the most weight I've squatted since high school... Almost 20 years ago. It is important to note that I was walking around at a much thicker 220 in HS.

I'm happy with this result. The failure at 335 will have me using 340 as a new TM.

Great month everyone! Let's make it through tomorrows hangover and then move on to something chest focused

Squat max went up from 330 to 365! Success! Also, wife is thinking of joining the gym, so she came along and got to witness. Free Willie's willie will probably get rewarded later...

New PR for me today.

Started the month at 430. I was using 387 as a TM. Went up to 440. I had 450 in mind but I shut it down there knowing I had nothing left in the tank.

Can’t wait to keep reading of more PRs!
