It’s been widely said that if you’re hitting your protein goals amino acids are close to pointless.
Is the inverse true? If you’re not hitting your protein, can aminos bridge the gap and if so, how much?

Genuinely curious. With supplementing whey, I can hit my 1g:1lb

If you are drinking whey shakes you are getting plenty of aminos. Amino products are some of the cheapest to manufacture for supplement companies and yield them some of highest profits. That’s basically the only reason they exist. High profit margin relative to cost. Just eat beef, eggs, and drink shakes and you are getting more than enough aminos.

If for some reason you are incapable of eating enough food/protein, then yes amino acids can be supplemented to bridge the gap.
You have to assume it would be quite expensive, and seems like you would only want to do that in extreme situations since proteins are not the only thing we get from eating real food.

Couple questions about EAAs. If you were intermittent fasting, would taking these be considered as breaking the fast? It may be a dumb question, but I'm genuinely curious.

Also, how in the hell do you get past the taste and smell of EAAs? I've tried to do them in the past and I had to incorporate them into a protein shake with yogurt and all sorts of shite to try and even mask it.

can i ask why you feel breaking the fast even matters?

i ask that because there is literally nothing special about IF. its just a way to control calories

i do it almost daily, so not downing it, but all the bullshite aside its just a caloric control regiment. breaking the fast or not has no effect on really anything overall health or performance or aesthetics wise.

so in general most so called "IF gurus" consider anything over 30cals as breaking a fast so normally no it wouldnt be considered breaking it.

i dont usually take them but if i do, i use a flavored version.

I think it's mostly just a mental thing for me. I notice once I break the fast I get really hungry yet easily full.

Thank you for the info.

I may look into this. I'm not hitting 1g/lb of protein, but I can't stomach the unflavored EAAs. Damn near gag from the smell which is why I stopped even trying EAAs.

I have a bag of EAAs that I'll use if I'm in a deficit and I know my protein is low that day. I've had the same bag for 3 years now which tells you how often I use it. I would sometimes use it if I was working out first thing in the morning as well, sometimes mid workout.

Mix them with something strong. I use orange juice
