Don’t feel bad. I’m now an adult and I was a Ritalin baby at age 5 or 6. I’m the same as your sons. Tested gifted, very curious from a young age, always asking why, active, played sports growing up.

I’m still taking low dose extended release adderall daily.

I became an engineer, got married, have a career, have children. I have a lot to say about the medication and I’ve contemplated it’s role in my life immensely. I would like to quit one day as there are some minor negatives but so far nothing long term or anything you would be able to pick out from your own personality traits or flaws. Overall it’s been a benefit in my life.

good to hear man. i really do worry about it, but overall it has been a great benefit for his life.

so do you still have cancer? what kind if you dont mind me asking?

Has Anyone found any half decent replacement to ADD Meds that might be effective?

Haven’t yet. Been taking high dose EPA as some studies showed it can help some, but it hasn’t done much for me.

No baw lol. I’m happy to inform you that I don’t nor have I ever been diagnosed with any form of cancer, my apologies if I have somehow insinuated this.

I’m a mechanical engineer working for one of the EPC players here in the area. So I definitely know what you are talking about.

Just Googled and found out that Journey is Ritalan.

Some of this has to be environmental living in the world we do today, or contribute to the severity.

Kids and adults too should do hard things, and be okay with doing nothing. Just sitting, observing not planning or daydreaming.

Gabor Mate’ has a great book called scattered about it.

Alternatives- attention is like a muscle and needs to be exercised. I think meditation or mindfulness techniques can be great.

And yes the book talks about the increased prevalence of addiction, decreased self-control and delayed gratification, and dopamine.

My dr started me on Qelbree. It's a nonstimulant. Has worked wonders. I've always suffered from anxiety, turns out the adhd was the cause of it.

Look into nootropics, people seem to like some depending on the individual and finding the right one for their needs. I take Modafanil every once and while, due to it messing up my sleeping pattern.
