I was dealing with this as well, but couldn't stop playing so I just drank more Tito's. Also, look into the PRP injection, I got one and it's taken my tennis and golfers' elbow away.

PRP injection

My DR mentioned this after he cleared me if it flares back up again. It feels pretty good right now, but still catching myself with some protective swings instead of letting it fly.

No, blues at The Dells in Northport. Pretty easy track.

The 67 at Purcell Farms was a better round IMO.

Some tidbits that may be beneficial for you:

• insurance didn’t cover it and it was $400 per vial. I was able to get both elbows and a shoulder with one vial
• it is not immediate. It takes a few months to kick in.
• the days after the injection are brutal. It’s an annoying pain that doesn’t feel good, think COVID or FLU shot pain but more and longer.
• it hurts like a mo-fo when they give you the injection. It’s like a warm painful sensation as it’s going through your bloodstream.

Rounds - 52

High - 91
Low - 77

Hcp - 9.5

I don't get too concerned about my hcp any more since I play with the same guys every week straight up bets and we play different yardages and different courses every week.

I don't play many tournaments any more since we don't belong to a club now.

Get a theraband and use it every day. I couldn't play golf for weeks, and was the best thing for getting rid of my golfers elbow.

Broke 80 for the first time last year. Have hit 82 a few times this year, but can't dip back down. Last 3 rounds have been in the 90s which isn't great.

All of my buddies are getting new clubs, which has me itching real bad for some. It's basically an arms race at this point.

Have a trip coming up in October to Capitol Hill.

I play at least three times a week when it’s dry. Flexible work hours and kids are getting old.

What tees are you playing from? Sounds like the wrong ones.

Much as I’d rather be playing the tips, back surgery and just plain getting old just doesn’t work back there. More than one hole I couldn’t reach the fairway or over the water on par 3’s now.

Always play age/distance appropriate tees. I’m one of the few guys in our 20-30 man regular group that doesn’t play the senior tees, because I do still hit it 240-250 regularly off the tee. That means around 6000 yards is where I need to be. If I hit 2 perfect shots I can reach a 500 yard par 5, but most of the time I don’t try, not worth it.

I may need to move up again soon.

For whatever reason, there is some reluctance of people to move forward.

I often play with a group with different capabilities. Most of the time I’m by myself forward. It’s a little uncomfortable as after the others have hit their tee shots they are in conversation mode while I’m trying to focus. On occasion a guy will move up with me. They usually shoot a similar score on 9, maybe 1/2 shots better on average, but as I always point out, “we can 3 putt from any tee.”

According to GHIN
145 scores entered in 2024
Many 9 hole after work rounds

I’m playing just above senior tees.
About 6000 yards. I play in tournaments and that’s about the distance that my handicap group is put in.

My average drive is 244.
But every now and then I can really smoke one. I’ve actually hit one over 300 this summer and then hit 2/290 and one/280.

I’ve always struggled with being a scooper/flipper/early extender.

I’ve hit more practice balls than anyone I’ve ever known. I spent hours on the range and this summer I’ve spent hours putting and chipping to.

I just suck. :-)

You’ve got enough game to play 6000-6400.

It sounds like the strength of your game may be driving the ball.

Have you considered working with a pro to get a more neutral or downward angle of attack on your irons?

I believe you can do it!

I have a similar situation in that my better contact is with the longer clubs and I can flip 8-gap wedge where I feel the ball ride up the face.

I take some lessons each year and I seem to be striking those clubs better at times.

Won’t matter if your swing path is wrong.

I hit 6-10 balls generally before teeing off, walk out on the course and generally get good strikes on the ball. But I have a good swing path and when I’m on rhythm with my swing speed I’m pretty accurate. 50+ years of playing.

I’m guessing, but from what you’re saying I’d bet you’ve got at least one issue, sway on the backswing. That one thing causes more swing problems than anything else I can think of.
