I’ve been struggling with the putting and chipping yips for some time...I’ve gone to the claw to putt which works fine. But man. I probably threw away 6 shots today with my wedges. Easy.

Anyone out there who has had the yips that has something that has worked to help you overcome em?

I know it’s all mental for the most part but I need some help!

Grip all the way down to the metal and lock your shaft into the inside of your left arm. Hold that postion through the swing and chip with a long putting stroke motion. Practice like that in your yard and on the practice green and even in your rounds until you groove it, then you can work back into a regular grip, but maintaining that shat lean/putting stroke motion in your chipping. The ball will run out more, so you need to learn how to play for that, but it’s a much easier/lower stress way to chip. And stress is the biggest reason you’re yipppng your chips

Use a PW or 7i until it goes away. It’s a putting stroke with a forward press.

If you are hitting it off the hozel you are probably taking a long back swing and deceling. Practice short agrresive swings and make sure you move through the ball.

A lot of people get too much weight forward as well which makes that worse. Yes, you want weight to be slightly forward, but you still need weight transfer.

Using a putting stroke is fine while you are working things out, but you need more than the bump and run around the greens or you aren't going to be able to get up and down often

Take your grip as normal. Lift your right thumb (assuming you’re right handed) in the air and just keep it there hovering above your grip by itself. Hit as normal

Perfect contact every time. Won’t flub a chip

Let me know if you want to start a support group. I’ll be there.

Missed an 18 inch putt by 2 inches last weekend. Had 4 three putts.

With putting, grip it lightly. If you feel your forearms flex (tense up) in the slightest then your gripping it too hard. See if that doesn’t help. You can re-add the pressure. Distance control will come with reps. Slow and smooth stroke that ends by your lead big toe.

I suck at putting but doing the above has helped me tremendously.
