I regularly played Siena in Las Vegas for years. The GM had the super rope off most of the cart paths with the exception of the middle of the fairways (On par 4s and 5s of course). I’m talking like 150 yards off the tee to like 100 from the green. Old lazy guys HATED him for it. I loved it, in fact Im all for cart path only. To me it’s straight disrespectful to feel like you have to drive right down the middle of a hole. 90 degree is proper etiquette if you are on the opposite side of the path. Handicap flags are the worst. I never walk any course any more (although i certainly did in my youth) but if you can’t walk from the cart path to the green you shouldn’t be playing. My humble opinion

Most nice courses are good about putting a barrier there to prevent people from driving. If I’m at city park idgaf

No harm in taking care of the course no matter status.

If my group is having to wait several minutes before each shot I’m not going to block the cart path so nobody can get by.

How often are people driving past your group?

If you stay on the path each time, and the one person every 5 holes goes around, which is more damaging to the course?

I don’t think either are very damaging to the course if it isn’t wet and there are no rules against it.

Wrong. I’ve played golf in about 25 states. This is completely false. It’s universal. People do it to get closer to their ball and to leave room on the path for carts behind them to get by.

I have more important things to worry about than to be upset at golfers trying to be courteous to others while playing golf.

Lol...what a stupid thing to say. So you've personally surveyed every course in the other 49 states to come to this conclusion? Stop making shite up dude. I park on the path around the greens but if it isn't 90 degrees I drive down the fairway like the rest of the world. I do make it a point to not enter the fairway right away though.

I must admit that all the grass nazis in here did give me good chuckle this morning.

I see it all the time and one of my regulars(yac) always does it. I will never understand why this is a thing. Carts can go around just fine. Superintendents hate this.
