But we’ve been incredibly dominant at home recently. Don’t think we need to change that much at home

So you want to bring back basically the same team that got blown out last time just because it's in the US?

I’m biased.

I have no reason to pick anybody.

I’m just a Gotterup fanboy.

My “Giddyup with Gotterup” tee shirt sales could be impacted positively IF he is selected and dominates.

I’m sure Keegan has studied every piece of data he can find to attempt to find out who might give us some sort of advantage.

At the end of the day, I’ll catch the highlights after I play.

I think it’s really going to come down to course setup.

Long doesn’t especially benefit us. They can bomb it too

No. I’m just saying we don’t need to change our thought process at home.

Basically the same team that kicked fricking arse in Wisconsin got its arse kicked the very next Ryder cup in Italy

Why in the world do you think the previous cup matters? It doesn’t. There is no similarity between hone and away

1. Course setup

2. Most importantly, the guys actually care at home. They actually continue playing golf and don’t take a full month off before.

#2 is why I would say frick off to being a captain for a foreign Ryder cup We can bitch at ZJ all we want but he twice flew over to Italy to try and get the guys to practice and play and most just didn’t care

I dont want Cantlay on the team, even if he wins today. His personality seems like a wet blanket.

Agreed. Seems like we’re down to a Burns vs Bradley situation. Oddsmakers had Morikawa as a virtual lock, but he’s who I would probably leave at home if Keegan decides to play.

What?

Brian Harman
Sam Burns
Wyndham Clark
Rickie Fowler
Max Homa

Replaced

Daniel Berger
Bryson
DJ
Harris English
Tony Finau

That’s almost half the team.

Play the guys who have been in form over the summer and guys that are a good course fit. Use a combination of personality fit and analytics to make teams. It’s not rocket science but somehow our captains woefully under prepare or lean too heavily on the personality fit stuff.

His personality is the only thing that seemed to make USA give a shite in Rome.

And Spieth , koepka, Fowler, Homa, and Clark are guaranteed not to be on this team, yet the poster I responded to said “the same team from Italy this year”….

Dawgs original point is correct. There is nothing to change or figure out for home Ryder Cups

Obviously SG is a little bit less telling in match play, but 3 of our best 4 players in SG last Ryder Cup were out of that list above. Our guys who were incredible at Whistling were awful in Rome.

I think we need big changes in how to plan for road Ryder cups. We don’t need big changes for home Ryder Cups where we have been dominant outside of one singles session since 2008.

There weren’t a lot of guys who played well in the last Ryder Cup.

Cantlay was one, and given his Ryder Cup record was not a surprise.

Guys don’t like him, big deal. You know who really hates him? His match play opponent.

Thats one of the reasons while I might cheer the shark if I see one chewing on him Patrick Reed is a tough out on match play.

Pairings matter, too. Assuming no behind the scenes problems, Schauffele / Cantlay combo is a good one to ride again. Same for Scheffler and Burns / Henley.

Anyone have early guesses on pairings for Bryson, JT, and Spaun?

scottie and burns have been terrible together

They are 0-3-1 as a team between presidents and Ryder cup

Harmon played decent today. Should captain KB just pick him and Cantley so they can play together and slow play the other team to death. Those two together would be a nightmare.

I wouldnt mind seeing them together.

Bryson is difficult to pair with because his game doesnt really match anyone elses. But those two would have a lot of combined firepower.
