Were you a country club boy or a goat ranch baw?

Course I grew up playing, no shirts were required.

Dad would take me with him to gamble, and when I was about 12, he started letting me play for money. Once saw a guy split a guy's jaw open with a beer bottle. Bottle didn't bust like you see in the movies

I grew up out at Acadiana Hills at Lafayette, so a bit of both kind of. I really wish it could/would reopen. I have a lot of good memories of playing golf with my dad and swimming in the pool with my cousins out there.

I feel ya, the course I grew up playing shut down in the early 2000s. Wish I could go back and play it again.

Most of my early golf was at Spring Bayou Country Club in Marksville.

Despite the name, it was more ranch than club

Have to play municipal when you are young. Pace is slow enough to accommodate an 8 year old.

Grew up on Ellendale CC. Used to ride shotgun in the cart with my dad when I was little, got lessons when I was 12, really regret not sticking with after my lessons. I would just play sporadically. Didn't get serious again until after college.

Started playing at 17 right out of High School at Bayou Country Club. On Tuesday afternoons, members could bring guests for cart fee only.... ($3.50 for 9 holes). My buddy was a member and we had a group that played every week. We'd hit the old 19th hole after where beer was $1.50 and they put out baskets of croutons for free. So, for $5.00, you got 9 holes, beer and food.

We went so much the members bitched and they changed the policy limiting the number of guests passes/month.
