What is your mental approach to hitting a ball on target?

For me, i take the club head straight back and I envision making contact with the club face completely squared at impact and then I lift upwards down the target line for straight shots.

Fades, I push the club head away and use the same mental approach and aim left. Draws, i pull the club head inwards and use the same mental approach and aim right.

Confidence of my line.

The more confident I am, the easier executing becomes.

I've sat here for 5 minutes and tried to come up with an answer and all I got is, I don't have a mental approach to hitting a ball on target. It's more just confidence in my routine of picking the right line with all factors being considered. I think.

Also an 8

Find that spot 6" in front of the ball. Hit it through that. Drag the glove on the take away. After the glove, there is no other thought.

I like to do a drill where I place a glove 3" behind the ball. I drag it straight back.

Pick an “intermediate target” and get my alignment accordingly.

Swing.

And hope.

Swing with confidence, relax, commit to the club in your hand.

If you’re worried you’re going to miss, you probably will.

It’s easier said than done. I’ll stand over several shot a round with low confidence. It’s also something that can snowball, which is why I drink a lot.

Swing as hard as I can and let nature sort out the rest.

Pick a target, align club to target, set stance, pick a spot on the ball to focus on, and clear all thoughts before swinging.

Aim at an intermediate target and go. Usually too many white cans preceded by Bloody Marys to think

I try to avoid thinking.

When I think, I lose focus on task.

Get the yardage, (I have a pretty good handle on how far I hit what). Making myself hit the right club is probably the hardest part.

Once I know the yardage, it’s where is my miss. I’m not trying to flag hunt every time.

Once I know those 2 things, it’s just swing the club.

Three Keys… One ,put my hands on the club properly… Two, stay down through contact… Three, transfer my weight from my right side Fully to my left side. That’s it. 9 handicap index.
