I haven’t been updating our greens report thread, but I need to start. I know it’s a rough time of year for greens, but it’d be good to know who’s dealing with poa and who isn’t.

They didn’t do anything during the freeze. They could have covered the greens with tarps. Or asked the public to help the cover the greens if they didn’t have enough man power. Horrible management. Tpc actually took care of their greens.

They have the staff to do it right and need to keep them ready for the Zurich. Played there after a cold spell and they left the tarps rolled up near the greens. Most greens in the NOLA area are in pretty good shape coming out of the winter.

There is no point of playing there. You will have a better time and spend less money going to City Park or hitting the driving range somewhere.

Have to wonder if BREC shouldn't just install turf greens

I've often wondered how that would play. Could you find turf that reacted like a green with a 7i in your hand

You're comparing BREC to TPC?

Also, no one else covered their greens down here.

It's funny that you single out failure to cover greens with tarps as "horrible management." Of all the f'd up things you could cite, this is it.

There are probably only 2-3 golf courses south of Jackson MS that cover their greens. Ever. It's just not necessary.

Keep on hitting that "power" cut buddy.

I played a course in Alaska with turf greens. It was interesting. Turf greens won't work. But hey, I can say that I played golf in Alaska.

Very difficult to accept shots. They do it in Alaska because of the moose and bears tearing up real greens. Even with very little play, they said they have to replace the turf pretty frequently.

Played out there on Saturday. Some of the greens have some grass coming in, some more than others. Still, most of the greens are sand and mud/soil. Not to mention the poa coming up.

That being said, they have a 5some that went out at about 10-10:15 that wrecked the entire fricking course with all 5 of them doing their best Cantlay impressions. The Marshall went out a couple of times to them because of complaints.

The plus of it being slow as frick…. Was I got to play fix the divot on all of the greens. It’s tough enough to put without divots out there…

I play a weekly group out there and its got the point we were talking about just giving gimmie's inside 6'. The ball hops off line like crazy. You are lucky if you get anything to roll true past 2'. Also you entire approach strat changes to run everything up and don't land on the green. you can hit the green with 9-10k spin and watch it roll off the other side.

Played 9 last Thur evening and missed a lot of putts due them jumping off line.

It does help that I found 3 green with marks where someone smashed the putter into the turf. I did my best to repair thoses as well.

I putted on one green. The ball was about 6” from the hole going in and it took a left turn. I walked up and apparently somebody threw a dart and there was a divot there. I couldn’t see it because it was mud/soil.

I fixed it though…. So you’re welcome.

Well it might even get worse if Historic City Park Golf Course is turned into a pitch 'n putt or Par 3. There's a 27 Hole Golf Crisis this April. See the link.
