Perfect illustration. I’m always surprised how most do it wrong.

We play ready golf and don't worry about such things. But it's not technically "proper."
Ready golf is best. If someone has a birdie or eagle putt we will give him time to look it over. Other than that hit when ready.
Hitting in order on the Tee isn’t usually an issue with is. But also play ready golf is someone is slacking behind.

I don’t play with obese people. So no.
But I appreciate you moving the goalpost from walking to standing. Someone walking across my line is fine. Standing there for a few seconds wouldn’t bother me either. Just move when I start to read it.
Finally, how many alters do you have, Bagman?

I'll take that as a compliment

What happened in your past to where you thought you needed to become argumentative?
Impressions in the greens from people walking/standing in your line will have an effect on the putt.

Argumentative?
Do you know where you are or how discussions work?
Your only point until this post was “etiquette” and “proper”. Okay. Those things don’t bother me. I understand they bother others, so, again, I don’t walk in someone’s line.
But now you’re saying impressesions are from walking around? Not ball marks incorrectly fixed or not fixed for days? Or people leaning on the edge of their putter? Or people dragging their feet? In relation to the tour, we play on soft greens. Even the ones that roll a 12 all the time like U Club. They aren’t super smooth or “tour” hard 11 months out of the year. Even a 250 lb guy taking a step along my line won’t affect the ball. Tour greens, sure. Being so hard and smooth means cleat impressions don’t recover as quickly (minutes instead of seconds or immediately). That’s understandable and why they adhere to that unwritten rule.

If you only hit your drive 220 and you have 280 left you don’t need to wait for the green to clear.

You can fix old ball marks. You can't fix someones impression they make in the green that's in your line.
Explain to me how an impression from someone who walked in your line won't effect your putt? Unless you are just an absolute terrible putter, then I can see why you wouldn't care.

quote:I've told you. The greens are soft enough that the impressions only last seconds or there aren't impressions at all. The only time impressions from walking around last longer than it would take for me to line things up and putt is when I'm playing on tour greens that have been triple rolled, double cut and a too hard to relax fast enough after being stepped on. In that instance, sure, it matters.

You and I don't play in those conditions.
quote:Unless the person walking across my line is dragging his feet and pulling up the grain, I make the putt anyway. Again, I get why it's taboo. I don't do it to other people. I'm explaining why I don't care.

Ok, the 2 of you have successfully hijackked this thread. Y’all have 3 options:
1) Ask admin to delete all you your posts in this thread and beg for forgiveness.
2) Start a spin-off thread and have it out there
3)Meet me at Sonic, split the cost of a foot long chili cheese coney with onion and a strawberry limeade, and wait for me to show up and discipline you both for your foolishness

Walking in someone's line is a no no.
I need to get down there and join you guys for a round. Nothing but bickering and giving praise for good shots. And of course the, "see, you would've made that putt if I hadn't walked in your line."
