The “British” Open (claims to be most prestigious) has NO ONE IN THE STANDS for the final group.

Absolutely ridiculous

The Open is the last great major IMO...

you don't see the penalties for missing fairways anywhere else like you do at The Open...

you don't see the weather and wind affect play like you do at The Open...

how many courses do you play that would be a hell of a lot harder if the rough was grown in and fairways tightened up?...

it's day one...who was in the last group?...

Yea, pretty bad they didn't stick around to watch Jeugnhun Wang and Sam Horsfield finish.

Tell me The Masters wouldn’t have people watching @ 10pm. Hell, the WM in Phoenix would have people watching @ 10pm.

Who gives a rats arse if no one is in the stands. The courses are unique to what we play and the approach to play those courses is also unique.

The Old Course is fairly easy, especially on a calm day. Also played Kingsbarns and North Berwick. North Berwick conditions were similar to this. That rough is no joke. I ended up just throwing the ball back to the fairway. Had a GREAT caddie and I think he even started to feel sorry for me. Brutally deep and thick.

To see the pros play in those conditions gives me an even greater appreciation for their skill. Not all Open courses are the same, but I love watching a true links course.

As a golf fan, would you watch The Open in person given the opportunity? I think you would.

I agree about the conditions and how good these guys are.

Even at the Masters on a Thursday,/Friday, almost everyone has already left when the last group finishes at around 6pm.

Have you watched the Masters? There were literally thousands of people until the end on Thursday’s round
