Santa Maria greens are rolling really nice. Had my best putting round out there lately. Extremely consistent, and fasssst.
I had to aim at 1/4 of the distance to keep it from flying by the hole.
I did pop an Eagle on #7 though!

Not impressed because you shot 120, or not impressed because you don't know what good greens look like
Go play that course...then pel pt. Tell me what a good green looks like....and it was a 125 dick.

You have yet to say what is wrong with the greens at U Club.

Judging by his 125, I imagine he could neither hit them nor putt on them.

Someone I know put it this way concerning U Club:
If you ever become a member there, you’ll either grind through and get really really good or you’ll quit golf before you kill yourself. Neither of which is an enjoyable experience.
I’ve played it once. As recently as a month ago. It was great. Yes, fast greens. But when you know that going in and spend time around the practice green, you’ll know what the ball will do. Execution is a whole different thing, but that’s at any course.

The greens were fast which I like point...they were lacking grass in some places and started to turn brown. My point is...their greens are not as good as pel pt.

U Club hosts a bunch of high-level amateur and NCAA tournaments in the Fall. They get burned out in the windy and dry period this time of year.

I am a member. I think I know a little about our greens. With 100% confidence this has been one of the better green years. August, September, October our greens were as good as any regular stop on the Pga tour.
Now if you would have said the fairways were not up to par I would have been right beside you. Our hardest obstacle is the amount of play and the traffic on the fairways. There has been debates on a self imposed carts on path for 2 week blocks to give them a rest.

I played a tourney out there in August. Greens were primo.

Greens were good both times I've played there. I just think the layout isn't very good.

The greens are in great shape, if I were to say the greens "suck" at UC it would be they have stupid unnecessary undulations that have no business being there, you want undulations that's fine but there is no reason for ant hill size humps and bumps. They ruined the greens IMO with the redesign that happened years back.
I couldn't agree more, it's a decent layout at best. If LSU and TAF didn't have their name on it it would have gone the way of Copper Mill by now.

I've only played it twice, but the layout didnt jump out at me as being average. What would you change?

Not sure what people are trying to say with "the layout isn't very good"? If you are trying to say there are some bad holes, then yes I agree. 11 green and approach area have been modified several to make this hole playable. Same goes for 15. If 14 does not get some kind of bulkhead along the fairway, it is only a couple of yrs before it falls in the lake.

I think it's a beautiful course. A top notch facility in this area. It's hard but understandably so. Im def not knocking it overall...it aint for pussies for damn sure

The butthurt from carding a 100 is strong here. Uclub is hard-there are no gimme holes- and some of the green complexes are too difficult, but what is wrong with the layout?

The nitro was everywhere. I married an ex-beer cart girl from the UC.
