A lot of municipal courses allow you to play barefoot.

However, most people prefer wearing shoes so you rarely see it happen.

I would assume that the desire to play barefoot and the niceness of a course work in opposite directions. Playing barefoot at a cheap course sounds awful due to all the crap you may step on. However, a really nice course could be nice to play barefoot, but they would not allow it.

2 guys in my foursome Sunday played barefoot. No problems from marshal at public course in Houston…got some comments and laughs from other players on the course. “Hey man where’d you get those golf shoes”

It bothered me at first but now I enjoy the music while playing.

I don’t mind if people play music on the golf course. Just don’t make me listen to it too. That goes for fishing too

In the mid 80s, the LSU course had a sign that read: Shirts required on the 1st tee. I cannot believe I actually played shirtless, but it was fairly common

I remember this too while growing up in the 80's, though not at LSU, specifically. Where I grew up in Iowa, there were a few courses where you play shirtless, the others you had to wear a t-shirt. I don't remember any that required a collared shirt, though I could be wrong about that.

Fast forward to today and I don't think there is a single course you can go shirtless and there are several that require collared shirts. Things have really advanced over time.

Watch movies, shows, concert footage, etc. from the 70's and 80's though, guys went shirtless all the time. Then came "No shoes, no shirt, no dice".

I absolutely despise the concept of music blaring on a golf course, but to each his own.

What sucks is when you play alone, which I do a good bit, and you catch up to a group playing their bro-country and they invite you to join them. Normally I'd say yes, but I'd much rather play alone and wait than play with a group with shitty music.

their bro-country

My playlist is so mixed after the bro country song it may be Audioslave, TI, Chris Stapleton (next living legend), King Flexx, Peter Cooper, some pop punk. It's a disjointed mess.

I’ve never been a fan of music on the course. Someone teeing off might not want to hear red dirt country emanating from the green behind them. Golf is expensive and should be enjoyable.

Yes I know the ship has sailed and get off my lawn.
