KBS Tour 90
KBS Tour 105
Project X LZ
Nippom Modus 105
Nippon NS Pro 95
DGS 105

All stiff flex.

Going to pickup a set of Ping I210 irons in perfect shape, but will have to re-shaft them since they are regular flex and standard length.

With my swing speed?

I don’t think my mid 80s swing speed would need a stiff shaft.

I’m probably going “senior” flex with the next set.

You’re gonna get them anyway. What does it
Matter what we say?

Going to get the irons, but I have not tried all of those shafts.

I like a smooth shaft with a tight dispersion.

I still swing pretty hard.

Avg 7 iron 165

Of the group, PX or Nippon 105

My next set will probably have Recoil 125 F5s

Too light for me. Have you tried heavier shafts? Or is that your sweet spot? Seems like if you’re hitting 7iron 165 you could swing heavier

If you’re spin rate is high, go w Modus or LZ.

It can be, I am tall with a big swing arc.

How is the Modus 105 ?

Without knowing anything about your swing, but knowing you hit a 7 iron 165, I’d say:

KBS Tour 90 - no
KBS Tour 105 - yes
Project X LZ - yes
Nippom Modus 105 - yes
Nippon NS Pro 95 - no
DGS 105 -maybe

I’ve hit them all. I hit 7 iron about the same as you and have a relatively smooth transition, but I still can’t hit KBS 90 accurately. I love the feel but they don’t work out.
Of the listed, I’d go Modus 105. I currently use Modus 120. 105 performs similar. Are you sure you want to go as light as all these?

LZ would be my second choice

You got me thinking that the Modus 120 is the choice.

I'm not crazy about the harsh feel of Project X shafts in general. I am also not crazy about the feel of the Blue Nippon AWT shafts that come in Pings as well.

I assume that the Modus is softer feeling but as stable ?

Yeah, just about anything is softer than PX.

Seriously, take a look at the recoil 125 f5s. Super soft feel, but stiff like steel.

I play the modus 120 tx. Excellent shaft for spin down. Played C-tapers forever.

Yes.
But I think the 105 is very similar if you really want the lower weight.
The 120 plays pretty stiff but doesn’t feel real stiff.

For instance, I hate Px shafts ( the LZs aren’t anywhere near as bad as the standards though). Hate C tapers too. They throw my rhythm off as they are too stiff feeling at transition.
Love the feel of the KBS 90 but get weird results as they are just too soft.

Yes, the Tour 90 feels fantastic, they need to work on getting that feel in all shafts.

I am going to demo the 105 and 120 shafts on a trackman later in the week.

I’m curious to hear how similar they actually perform.
I think they will be close.

I tried the Nippon 105 and did not like them. I play Nippon 120 and love them. Best irons I have ever hit by a lot for me.
