This is something that helps me a lot.

Who else stands behind the ball and envisions the shot, picturing the exact flight of the ball you want in your head?

Maybe it's just a quick confidence builder before your shot. In my game, when I'm not sure about a shot, or even a putt, I tend to screw it up.

Having confidence in the shot before you take it seems to help a lot.

I usually snap hook it OB off the first tee.....so I envisioned a power fade for the shot last round.

Sliced so hard it nearly killed a man 225 out in the adjacent fairway.

Best tip I’ve ever had was to maintain the same demeanor after every shot.

If you think you can, you can.

If you think you can’t, try a different shot.

It's HUGE, correctly and confidently executing a wrong strategy is better than not committing to the right one.

It's why caddies give that last affirmation before the shot on tour.

I need to try harder on the positive thinking. Lately I will get a par then say "oops, the next hole going to be a double bogey" then I proceed to grant my wish. Another thing I been doing terrible is I hit a good drive on a par 5, pick a spot to lay up then hit that shot o.b.. So yes, I need to try positive thinking.

Pick a shite is the best advice I’ve had in a while.

The book Zen Golf by Dr. Joseph Parent is a great book. It makes you look at golf a different way and is all about positive thinking. Quick and easy read. Erik Anders Lang promotes it a lot. I’d suggest it to any golfer!

Layups messed with me for years then I realized I wasn’t focused on a target and trying to hit a very good shot. I was just getting up and hitting because it was ‘just a layup.’

Since I changed that mentality, it’s been much better.

I actually use the art of pessimism. Let’s say I run a birdie putt 5 feet past. I’ll say “dammit, I just made a bogey”. That takes all the pressure off, since I’ve already figured I’ve missed the next putt. If it goes in, I’m happy. If not, that’s what I expected anyway.
