I understand that, but where your approach is from and how close you are able to hit it to the pin does, correct?
So, if you are driving it really shitty, wouldn't it make your approach shots much harder, thus generally lowering your rank unless you hit some really great shots?

He drove the ball pretty damn well at the Masters and in the few tournaments before that. He was just horrific from about 140 and in and with the flat stick.
He started the year exact opposite of that - he was deadly from 140 in and was putting very well. He couldn't drive or hit a middle iron worth a crap.
I theorized a few weeks ago that his back is limiting his practice time, so he can only do so much. After his early stretch of tournaments, I suspect he shifted his limited practice time to focus on his driving and long game, and it's had a negative effect on where he was previously really sharp.
