re: That bunker shot by Fitz was the most clutch golf shot in history for me

For whatever reason I consistently find myself rooting for him. Amazing shot with the pressure he was under. Alex owes him some dinner tonight for sure.
Mr.B’s again! 5 nights in a row

Yeah, cause chipping in short sided from the hay on the 71st hole of the US Open to beat the GOAT can’t touch winning a tournament that had to beg a bunch of has beens and never was players to show up.

Past winners of the Zurich:
Matt Fitzpatrick
Ben Griffin
Shane Lowry
Rory McIlroy
Patrick Cantlay
Xander Schauffele
Cam smith x 2
Jon Rahm
That’s a whole lot of guys with Ryder cup / major champion experience who have won this event since it turned to a team event.
Hardly what I would call has beens or never was.

I would assume he was just talking about the 2026 tournament. A list of past champions where only 2 of those played in 2026 doesn’t really help the argument.
It was probably not a serious inquiry but Ryan Gerard asked Smylie Kaufman last week if he’d be ready to team up with him
Seems like it turned out to be a good event this year, but it was not a great field & some of the best players didn’t make the cut.

Does Alex get to play in The Masters next year?
only tournaments with full FedEx cup points get invited to the Masters. The Zurich is not in that category (nor are opposite field tournaments), so no he didn't get a Masters invited by winning

For everyone crying about Alex Fitzpatrick getting PGA status "riding his brother's back"...
He just finished T9 at the Cadillac Championship. The kid is good enough on his own.

Good for the Masters for recognizing the Zurich is a beach party golf event, not worthy of getting a prestigious invitation for a win when it’s the JV tour squad with the good players there only because they are paid mercenaries.
Kill the Zurich in this format.

Have you seen Bryson’s US Open bunker shot to win the tournament?
Posted on 5/5/26 at 7:33 pm to BigNastyTiger417
Yes. I have also seen Fitzpatricks awesome arse bunker shot on the 72nd hole to win the Us open….
I explained why I personally think the pressure here is greater

… ok ….
PS. One was for a Major Championship. Literally the most difficult tournament to win in the world. The other was a team event which many PGA players do not attend.
