I know it is considered first rate. Tell me about the course, guest houses and staying there for a few days on a trip, etc..

Grew up playing north Louisiana golf but this was not in the picture back then.

Wide open off the tee, not that long, greens are big, undulated, and fast. Always in nesr perfect condition.

guest houses

They have a cabin a fee miles away, and condos right off the first green. I dont know which are open for the public to rent. They're both fine, nothing to write home about.

I live 4 hours away, but I've played it probably 50+ times. I've never claimed to be a member.

Do you have to be a member to play?

I head up that way about 5-6 times a year.
I might have to see if I have any buddies in that club.
I've never played there.

The overall golf experience is first class. Awesome clubhouse, great staff, good practice facilities. The course is not difficult from tee to green but the greens themselves are too difficult for the average golfer. The greens are always in good shape and fast but some of the greens have too much slope to run them that fast. The green on #10 is ridiculous!

But back to my initial statement ... overall it’s a first class golf experience.

Stay in the condos by the clubhouse. They are nice.

IMHO — it’s the best course in LA and it really isn’t even close. Guest houses on #1 are great and run around $140 a night. But the course is private. You can play as a guest with a member for around $120. Or you can play as an unaccompanied guest of a member for closer to $175. But you have to be invited/sponsored by a member.

Renovations to the 19th hole and men’s locker room were just completed and are very nice. Course is in excellent condition also.

Some of the members are weird sobs.

The course is the nicest in Louisiana and I would join in a heartbeat if I lived closer.

Nicest course I’ve played. If you’re not used to playing the greens there, they will add a ton of strokes if you end up on the wrong side of the hole. Not only tricky to read but lightening fast.
