which do you use?

if you use spike-less, have you had any issues with traction?

i've only ever played with spiked shoes and my biggest fear was switching and not having enough grip.
i place a lot of tourque in my lower body while swinging and never trusted anything without a cleat.

but there are a lot of good looking spikeless options, so i am thinking of giving it a shot.

I’ve used both. Don’t notice loss of grip with spikeless. Prefer putting with spikeless

At least with spikes, once you wear them down, you can replace them for under $20.

No such luck with spikeless shoes.

My Ecco spike shoes are lasting me for years because all I need to do is replace the spikes.

Do spikeless really wear out that fast? Wouldn’t think walking on grass would wear them down much, but I guess golf swings might put some stress on the soles

I've played a couple rounds in tennis shoes. I don't notice a huge difference. I wouldn't tee it up in competition or a meaningful round in them or when it's wet/raining. But for an afternoon round, especially walking, I'm all about it.

I used to use spike, but now the only golf shoes I have are spikeless - FJ Flex. They are so comfortable. I don't notice that big of a difference with them in my swing. I haven't slipped, but if it was raining or really wet - I might would want some spiked soles.
I went last week during Cart Path Only time because the ground was soaked and I did not have any issues with traction. But I guess it might depend on your swing. I also like the ability to just wear them out of the house and not worry if I have to run by the store or whatever on the way.

Try a round wearing regular tennis shoes. They are better than that, but its pretty similar. If you are slipping a lot in tennis shoes, I would probably stick to spikes

Side note: The FJ Flex is comfy, but the opposite of water proof so walking on wet courses is not great.

When I know it’s wet, I wear soft spikes. Otherwise, I’m going spikeless.

2nd FJ Flex. I do want to try the sketchers

The sketchers are really comfortable. Best golf shoes I’ve worn. Don’t notice any loss of grip and like someone else said, feel really good on greens.

I’ve got the puma Ignite spikeless and just got a pair of Spieth 3 limited’s for my birthday. Very very different shoes, but love them both. I have to pay attention to pick my feet up higher when walking on greens in the spieths. I got used to spikeless and being able to shuffle more on the greens

I still have a couple pairs with spikes but rarely wear them. Spikeless are more comfortable and I don’t notice any loss of traction. Maybe I would want the spikes if it were really wet out. As for changing the spikes out. I rarely change them out. By the time it’s time to replace spikes, I’m just ready for a new, fresh look.

I think this too, but we do walk on asphalt parking lots and cart paths some when we play.

I have gotten to where I make sure I walk on grass as much as possible with my spikeless.

But they seem to always wear out in the first year. I don't have much of an issue with traction even with a bit wore down spikes, so no problem anyway for me.

Wish I could go back to nails! Soft spikes mess up greens more than traditional spikes! With the new rule of tapping down spike marks, I’d love to go back!

I have a pair of both. You definitely get better traction with spikes. I find the spike pattern makes a difference. Ecco and New Balance spikeless have pretty good traction. Nike’s is shite.

Also helped the greens. Basically mini aerification every day.

Metal spikes were banned due to the damage they did to the clubhouse, bridges, etc. They were fine on the course

Neither anymore. Tennis shoes unless it’s wet. Then spikeless

Anyone tried these? Seems like they let you turn any tennis shoes into golf shoes.
